I already watched Chi's sweet Home for the short category but maybe that doesn't matter that much. I can always put that under a different one and watch Wakako-sake too! I'll definitely keep that in mind or I may watch it for the bonus challenge, which requires you to watch one anime in one day. And if you like cats, you could give Chi's sweet home a try too! It's about a tiny kitten who finds a new home and it's super adorable. It's rather long but also pretty short (3 minutes per episode) so it should be manageable.
To be honest I have seen a little of Divine Gate, the first 12 minutes to be exact but it was just so boring that I couldn't even finish it. So yeah, I can imagine it's pretty bad and going with what you've been saying it probably won't get any better either. So maybe that decision was a good one. xD But speaking of bad game adaptions KanColle is another example. I watch that one for the challenge too but it's not really worth it. The whole anime is a mess and doesn't really know what it wants to be and it's coupled with the fact that it lacks depth. Who are they fighting? Who are they protecting? What does the enemy even want? No one knows.
As for recommendations, if it's seasonal anime I wholeheartedly recommend Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu If you don't know what rakugo is it's a bit like a play in a theater only that there is only one actor playing all the roles. (wikipedia will give you more of an idea on what it is) You will see them performing rakugo a lot, so if that's not your thing you will probably know after the first episode (which is also longer then the rest of the episodes). Don't be fooled by the synopsis on MAL though cause that only tells you what happens at first, most of the time (from episode 2 onward) you'll see what happened to the current yakumo in his past. And the characterization is excellent. (or at least I found them to be pretty good)
As for anime that aren't currently airing, I recommend Shinsekai Yori and Princess Tutu (they are both on your ptw and I rated them with 10; that's why haha). Shinsekai Yori is an Utopian story but as it slowly unfolds you'll learn more and more about what is actually behind it all and the anime does a wonderful job at building up the tension. I don't want to say anything more since that would be a spoiler but in the end it left me utterly speechless. Princess Tutu is a magical girl anime but kinda special in that way since there is more to it than what you might think at first. It's also, how should I describe it, rather quiet in that it doesn't have all these energetic girls you may be used to from magical girl anime. Although it still has a lot of tropes you're probably used to but it uses them in a way which I found to be very charming. It's quiet, sometimes maybe a bit melancholic but never overly so and it has it's comedy moments as well. Ah, I don't know how to say it better but if you should decide to watch one of those you'll know anyway. btw I'm going to rewatch Tutu for the challenge too! (for the one which requires you to rewatch an anime)
As for my own tastes, I don't really know. I don't really like harem, even though I don't mind reverse harem that much. I also never had any interest in mecha or space anime. I watched some but none of them could really make me like these genres. Other then that, I'm generally open to a lot of stuff, as long as the story is good and the characters are well done. That's probably very generic and doesn't really tell you a lot about what i like and don't like, does it? I'm sorry.
That's totally fine! I was just asking because I was curious. No need to worry. I'm having a similar approach btw. Since the genre categories are probably the easiest to fill I leave them for last. I still watch some seasonal anime and even though I don't plan on using them them for the challenge, they could still be an option if can't finish the challenge in time otherwise. So I try to fill the categories first, which seem harder to fill or the ones for which I definitely can't use seasonal animes (like the ones from the 90s and 80s). So I haven't decided on all the categories yet either.
Oh and I still might watch one of the things you suggested. There is one item that requires you watch an anime suggested by another user who also participates in the challenge. Or if you want to go all out and suggest something entirely different since these were only for the kids category, I'll be glad to hear your recommendations too. (Only if want to, of cause!) And if you need any help or suggestions, I'll be sure to help you too! To be honest I had a quick look at your PTW list and I think there is a lot of good stuff there. (I watched lots of hem too or had them on my own PTW) :D
And since I assume you're also participating in the challenge, do you have any plans yet on what you'll watch for that category?
