1. I will alter my final score to a 3/4 however there was too much I did not like for me to give a grade higher. Also there are some ecchis out there that are so bad and so sexist I think you can give them a score lower than three. Its possible dude.
2. My standards are not high, LOL. Here are the changes I want:
-Not a big case the first episode, I want a juicy one for the season finale so we can see how far the MC has come as a character. If we see him winning a high profile case so soon there might be a danger of going in 'overpowered ridiculousness' turf. I know the MC is a badass, but he does not need a big win to show he is a badass.
-Don't kill off a strong female character for the MC character development. I know its for fans of the games but come on man we NEVER get strong female leads on par with the male MC in anime. Think about the anime only's!
-I want the judge to be fair BOTH sides.
-The villain was a bit too OTT for me. We know he is the murderer of course but I thought his presentation and crazy breakdown made it a WAY to obvious to the court.
Everything else stays the same. Flashy effects, humour etc as making peace with fans of the game but I really need better plot construction for me to keep watching. But yes your right all those changes would have VERY DIFFICULT for the studio to make. Oh good I can feel how hard that would have been!
Furthermore pointed out things I like about the show. MC and female lead is cool, I don't hate the MC's best friend and I guess his characterisation is the same as in the game but I feel a bit sad for him that he has to be made kind of dumb and silly when I am sure he has some depth. Think Klein from Sword Art Online, a great character who I liked but one I feel was underdeveloped and did not get enough screen time because Kirito has to be a badass. The OP also had me laughing ALOT (I think that was the intended effect?) but when it comes to them people start talking as if they have a music degree sometimes so I was gonna stay outta that one. The flashy effects were mostly fine but the 'ding' when I have an idea, that one got to me a bit. Of course from the animation style I expected some humour of course I guess not to the extent of how much it would influence court proceedings. Animation was fine by me but again I know some people get really technical on that front so I was not opening that can of worms.
Overall I will review my final score but at most I cannot give it higher than a 5, the plot elements just get to me too much. Also a review is an opinion and opinions are always needed to inform debate. Therefore there is no such thing as a 'bad review' just thought I would point that out. Not agreeing with something and it being 'bad' are not the same thing.
P.S: Shame? I love anime dude but like comic books and video games its just anime. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Also I have been sent a message which has been WAY more helpful than your comment with a balanced discussion of the first episode and some explanation about the Japanese legal system. If my points are so subjective and baseless you have to tell me how. As I said in the review the general elements I had issue with were ones I thought would not be seen in any legal system in the world (unless its really shit).
Great review you posted for Naruto. Well written and I think lots of people agree with that "i-dont-know-why-im-enjoying-this" feeling. Keep up with the great reviews.
saying an anime makes an impact is subjective as well. to me 5 out of 10 is an average score and I'm sorry if you think my review wasn't that objective or didn't mention enough pros but its simply pointless because you cannot deny the flaws completely outweigh the negatives in a major way in this very manga even if that manga is a shonen. I very clearly stated these issues in the review while trying to vouch for the story. I not only have to look at this as a fan but as a critical reviewer that is my purpose why I made the review.
