I agree with your review of Ghost in the Shell. I went in expecting something to blow my mind, but what I came out with wasn't a masterpiece, just an alright movie.
As a side note, however, do check out the sequel movie and move on to the TV series, "Stand Alone Complex." Not only does the TV series play out quite differently, it actually really settles you into the universe after the first few episodes and becomes an entertaining series about investigations and capturing criminals—or at least, I ended up enjoying it much more than the movies.
