Do not consider myself an otaku, since i watch only those animes i have interest in and don't bother watching everything that comes out in a given season. I really love anime as a medium though, and look forward to further explore it's strengths. Both in it's old and more recent incarnations.
My favorite anime era is 90's. Hense why Eva, GitS, Bebop and Berserk are among the top tier of my favorites list. Both art style tradition and the kinds of stories that were popular back then speak to me like no other decade does, and ever since there wasn't an era in anime as fascinating and magical to me, as the 90's.
But the modern state of anime is interesting as well. There are so many different shows coming out every year, that it's just a blast to be an anime fan right now.
Which i take a great pleasure in being.
