Hello again, I just finished reading 20th century boys and I must say that the manga had great points (such as metaphors regarding political totalitarian regimes (could not help but think about communism), human manipulation and what a great influence childhood memories/actions from the past can affect thee future ) but the ending was so abrupt (probably it will be explained in the 21th century boys who is the real "Friend")
Anyway it was a great manga and thank you for recommending it to me^^

Monster is indeed a great series, closest to human psychology.
Well Kenzo is actually a character I can relate to, both in his way of thinking, acting and the care he has for people and also the effort he puts for saving them, I also like his flaws (first he was set on revenge and was willing to give up his calling as a doctor but step by step he regained that, just like IRL, thus avoiding to become a monster himself, but the fact that he had doubts shows that he is human so I like that part very much) and the fact that he is a doctor.
Enjoy your view, there is no hurry!
Yey, another coffee fan- here's a cup^^

Hey! Glad to see you again! Hope you're okay.

If you liked Homunculus i'd also recommend Eternal Sabath- it's about human experimentation in search of immortality but in stead they got humans with telekinesis and mind manipulation power, very interesting!

I'm so glad you liked GITS, it's also my favorite series because of it's complexity and partialy realism (I also liked the idea of a copy without and original paradox- they question morality pretty well here and also what actually makes us human), I'd also recommend the movies and arise series but the series it's not at the same level(but still pretty good)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes I finished it too and I lived it all the way through. The ending was perfect to me. Couldn't really see it ending any other way personally.

I won't pretend that I understand how you can have an anime be your favourite without actually completing it, but to each their own. Rewatch isn't so bad though, I was on the same page about rewatchs up until recently. You just have to get past that initial aversion.

Reading 100 years of solitude I see. A wonderful book, you should also try his short stories when you can. They are as fantastically imaginative, eccentric and mystifying in a way no other book I have read is. You will love him simply for the sheer marvel of his prose and the quirkiness of his characters, if not for anything else. Also, some of the characters from his shorter works make an appearance(cameo) in 100 years of Solitude.

Did you finish Portrait of the Artist? I have been rather smitten Dostoevsky and existential literature as of late, I read Dazai whom you recommended iirc, but only No Longer Human. It set me off on this frenetic existential literature marathon actually.

Hmm i guess its a little different for me since when I read it I was not really an introvert or anything like that.(Still not). Its in my favorites because Kurosawa was similiar to me in my first two years of college, did not really give a fuck about anyone and did things without friends by him. I guess seeing that and seeing him grow through to become a respectable young man is just something I really like to see in characters. It also had good romance and psychological aspects, two of favorite genres. A very satisfying ending.Good character development in general with the standout obviously being Kurosawa. A bunch of other little things but I'd rather not explain it all. If you liked Onanie then you should definitely check Oyasumi Punpun. Has some similarities to Onanie but its more of a coming of age story then psychological romance.(Although thats in their too.)
