Regarding your "women MCs in anime rant". I just want to confirm:

You are not crazy: there are a lot and far to many sexist, problematic, and other wise annoying portrayals of women in anime

Yes a decent portrayal of women in an anime is hard to find and and excellent portrayal of a female main character is even harder to find, though they are out there.

I often find a female characters that are represeted positivly in one area but objectified in another. Like u might have a character that is both feminine and an excellent fighter, but the show takes every opportunity to strip her cloths off.

These messed up depictions are a reflection of the mysogyny that exists in Japan as well as Japanese attitudes about gender roles.

Thats like saying an anti semetic tv show is not a Jewish person's business because its made for a Christian audience. Also saying something offensive is OK because it makes money is a ludacris and materialistic. As if the profitability of something determines whether its right or wrong. I'm sure someone could make a lot of money by selling child porn to pediles, but does that make it OK?

I guess somebody doesn't realize that as a woman you have the right to be concerned about how women are represented in any form of media.

Personally my fav. female leads are Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell (movie or TV show).

Also Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tale.

They are both Strong, complex female characters. they have their moments when they are sexualized but the usually dress sensibly atleast when they fight.

plus we should be friends cause we've got pretty good anime compatibility =)

Regarding that women in anime post you made. The boobs/shonen thing really isn't your business. It's in shonen which is based for a male audience. Now I do realize it gets out of hand. I for one hate huge boobs, it just takes away from the show in my opinion. But some guys like that and it draws in viewers. My girlfriend says Shoujo doesn't have that many ecchi series. So there should be a lot of decent series for you. Secondly regarding the badass female thing. Well of course their not going to be pretty and feminine. Girls are cute and beautiful, that's how us guys see it. If we see some cute little girl beat the living shit out of someone to the point of having blood everywhere. It's no longer cute or pretty. Anyways, I just want to say something to this. I might of misunderstood a few things. Namely the badass female thing. I don't know if you were referring to badass as in an emotionally strong female character or psychically like I stated.

Alright, I shall read those (I've got so many on my PTR that I don't even know what's on there XD).

I find it really hard to get through animes because I end up dropping a lot of them half way through because I get bored.

Hopefully, I can get through that much when I'm your age then XD.
