You're contradicting yourself xd First you write that the story is indeed more important and then you go on to write that you "think they each have the same level of importance".

It's just the way you're couting it, if the max score per category wasn't a simple number like 10 your way of doing it would be more difficult. Just taking the average of the numbers you put in would be the default way to go (for a reason). Then you also wrote this, which I now believe was a mistake:
"When you add them all up and divide it out of 50 you get a .48."
I presume you meant 4.8?

Have you ever considered using weighted score when you "rate" your animes? You averaged the score based on every factor assuming that each has the same level of importance for an anime's quality, but wouldn't you say the Story is more important than Sound for instance?

P.S.
Your way of counting is also weird, just add the ratings together and divide them by the amount of numbers you put in while adding. :P
