I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for you review of Simoun. In fact, I chanced upon the review when thinking I should write my own, to discover that such a thing really wouldn't be needed anymore: you took exactly the main elements of the series and gave them their place. In particular, I was struck by how the different main characters seem unable to re-imagine their sacred role as a military one - a portrayal of real-life dissonance between role and reality if there ever was one - and am simply gratified to find that more people have noticed how this seemingly simple series has a lot to go for. Perhaps I will try and elaborate a bit on the astounding way religion is used within the series, but for now I'll gladly point anyone interested to your succinct, but quite complete, review. Thanks!
