First things first, I prefer AniDB over MAL (for various reasons) and it's practically the only anime-related forum where I'm active. So, go ahead and add me as a friend if you'd like to: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=userpage&uid=384413
Before we start let me say this; I despise the otaku culture. I find it disgusting as to what they are doing to their life. And watching a lot of anime and reading a lot of manga does NOT, I repeat, does NOT make you an otaku. It only makes you a pseudo-otaku, at best. Do your research on how real-life otakus are. Let me tell you, it might seem like an awesome life in the beginning, but trust me, it ruins your life and your future, aswell as how your family, friends and the society looks at you.
Also, I never judge an anime poorly for what it really is, but more in the execution of what it's supposed to be. I see a slice of life anime as a slice of life anime, not something that you would drop because it's not "interesting." You're totally missing the point of the genre if you're looking for a slice of life that's interesting. And fanservice is ok, as long as it fits with the anime's tone. As much as you "fanservice haters" hates fanservice, it's never gonna disappear, ever. Why? Easy, because that is what boosts sales, which gives the studios profit, so that they can produce other anime titles. Stop complaining and just accept it for what it is. If not, then just go for another form of medium, because Japan is the land of the perverts, so get used to it. I'm never disturbed by shounen-ai or anything like that, because I'm an open minded guy who accepts pretty much everything within the entertainment medium. It's all a matter of, as stated before, execution. Instead of watching the first episode of an anime and then dropping it because it isn't of your taste, do some research about it to find out whether or not you'll like it. Don't listen to what other people say (generally) because they have the same things as you do; opinons. And opinions will always differ, no matter what. If you think that this show is going to be a generic battle shounen, don't watch it. If you think that this anime is going to be an uninteresting slice of life, don't watch it. If you think this is going to be yet another ecchi harem comedy, don't watch it. Don't go and watch it, with this knowledge, just to drop it after the first episode because it was exactly as what you expected it to be.
And before you go "why did you rate this so low?" let me say this; I like to put my ratings pretty critically. Meaning I don't just look at how enjoyed I was nor how the last 12 episodes were better than the first 12 episodes. I look at it as a whole.
*How was the pacing of the episodes?
*How well written was the story overall?
*Were the characters believable and was the character development good?
*Was the art appealing with something unique or pretty to look at, or was it just generic?
*How was the voice cast, did they do a proper job in expressing the emotions of the characters, and was the OST (Original Soundtrack) memorable or forgettable?
*Will this anime be remembered in the future or is it just good for the moment? Will it be worth rewatching? And what does it contribute to the anime history.
*And finally, how much enjoyment did I get from this anime. An anime can have nice art, sound, story, character etc, but it doesn't mean anything if the anime wasn't enjoyable to watch.
Since I've noticed that some users for example does not consider an 8 to be a great anime and instead just good or ok (what?), I've decided to write what my ranks mean and how I think they *should* (take that with a grain of salt) be rated. But before I start let me tell you one thing, your overall rating does not mean the same as the enjoyment rating! Start being critical!
10: This one had little-to-no flaws. It could be called perfect. But let me say this, NOTHING is perfect. Everything has a flaw in it somewhere, and people who say that something was completely perfect are either ignorant or blind to see the flaw in it. But despite that, this one was 100% worth the watch and could definitely be rewatched anyday. 9: This was amazing, this was something I could definitely rewatch one day in the future. It surpassed most other anime/manga in every category and was extremely entertaining to watch. 8: This was something I would call great. Great detail and never makes me lose interest. Pretty much great in every department. 7: This was pretty much very good. Detailed things and enough to keep me interested all throughout. It might have lacked somethings, but it was definitely worth the watch. 6: This was good, it's above the average level, so it's good. However, this had nothing special to it. So it was worth the watch but it's not worth the rewatch. 5: Mediocre/so-so. Meaning this was NOT bad. This was completely average, and nothing else. I can't say that it wasn't worth watching, but I also can't say that it was really worth the watch. 4: This was bad, however, depsite this, it could still contain something worthwhile. But overall it was bad. 3: It was really bad with nothing special going on making it completely skippable. Pretty much no value and the enjoyment level was extremely low. 2: It was awful as hell but was saved by one minor thing. But if that certain thing was not there, this would have been a total complete failure. 1: There was absolutely no value in this one. It was generic and stupid with nothing worth mentioning about. AKA it's something that shouldn't exist.
Really do consider carefully when you rate an anime or manga. Always think this "is this awesome for the moment, or will it forever be awesome?" Start being critical about it and stop acting like anime/manga is "TEH BÄST THING EVAH!"

Man, I totally missed your birthday this year. Oh well. Hope you had a great one. :)
In other news, how has your anime experience been this year? Mine was rather mixed, with most shows disappointing me every season, but also a select few that are genuinely good and exciting to watch. My favorite show of the year probably goes to Shigatsu, for being an incredibly passionate, coming-of-age story with endearing characters. Runner-up goes to Kiseijuu, for displaying a great conflict between two species and not falling into too many anime tropes and cliches. It's in my opinion, a lot better than Tokyo Ghoul, a similar show that is infinite times more popular than Kiseijuu.
It's been a long time, by the way. I hope you've been well.
Well i do think that the last chapters were the best in the entire war arc too. What do you think of the second battle between Sasuke and Naruto? I thought it's entertaining but i don't think it's better than their first fight in the valley of the end. I'm probably just bias though.
Honestly, i'm pretty hype for the Last Movie. I never got hyped for any Naruto movie than this one, but probably because it's tied in the core story unlike the rest of the movies. Also NaruHina <3
So, I heard Naruto ended. Since I stopped following it for over 3 years, and have no intention to ever pick it up again, mind telling me how it ended? I'm curious if Naruto became Hokage at the end, like he had always dreamed, and whether Sasuke eventually came back to his senses and rejoined the good guys. Please, do spoil~! :)
Dude, what do you think of the last chapters? I honestly felt really emotional when reading it. Yes, it's full of plot holes, retcons and deus ex machinas, but i have been following this series for 10 years and the first half, especially the Land of Waves arc till Search for Tsunade arc will forever be dear to my heart. Geez, i sound so melodramatic right now...
Aaaand in the end we didn't get to see Kakashi's mouth lol
