Hi, my name is Morgan. I'm 19 and am a bit new to the otaku scene. I started watching anime in 2012 and started recently reading manga.
If you have any questions, feel free to pm me :)
You didn't come off as rude at all. I too am like that. I have a short attention span or I won't enjoy a series depending on my mood.
I prefer subs. My first anime was Naruto and I watched it in English. I didn't want to watch it in subbed because reading was too much of a hassle and I thought it would distract me from what's going on. I was forced to catch up to the anime in japanese because there weren't any more dub episodes. After a couple hours you get used to it and I began to like the japanese voice actors. Reading subs becomes natural to the point where you don't even notice you're reading them most of the time. You also learn to read fast enough and look at the screen at the same time after a while.
I prefer subs because of the voice acting. The dubs tend to be quite bad sometimes or not as good as the sub. I prefer authenticity. Regardless if the sub is better I prefer to stick to the original voice actors. There are definitely good dubs out there. Like Black Lagoon. The best dub I've heard. It's weird watching some anime in English though because some of them are set in Japan and it doesn't make much sense ya know? Anime like Attack on Titan would make more sense to watch in English than lets say a slice of life based in a city or countryside in Japan.
It's okay lol. Some people don't have the time or like to take their time when they watch anime.
Natsume Yuujinchou - It's slice of life with supernatural elements. It's about a boy and he's the only one who can see ghosts/demons.
Zankyou no Terror - It's intelligent and phycological. It has Death Note like moments. It's about two teenage kids detonating bombs around Tokyo. The mystery is we don't know why. It's also just came out. I recommend you check out the first 2 episodes. There's only 3 episode released so far.
Code Geass - It's an intelligent series and it's Sci-Fi. I haven't seen it but it's one of the highest ranked shows on this site. It gets a lot of praise as well.
Psycho-Pass - Futuristic Sci-Fi series
No Game No Life - It's funny and intelligent-ish series lol. It's mainly a fun show that shouldn't be taken tooo seriously. It's a fun ride. < This is mainly if you're just looking for a good time.
Hope they suit you and you don't find them too bad lol
Hey. I'm also kinda of new to anime. I started watching anime in 2012 as well. Ask me any questions about anime or manga.
I wanted to recommend a couple great manga.
Noblesse - It's in color and has a great story. Characters are awesome. There's a bit of comedy in it as well. It's not your typical vampire story. You can read it here:
