I clearly said early One Piece was good and even recommended it to people. Why would I say it's dumb the next day? Geez, are all AoT fans this stupid? With that level of comprehension, no wonder you like AoT and the later part of One Piece.
This is why I said "I've seen enough" after seeing AoT on your profile. If you still don't get it, it means I finally found out why this person (you) was so stupid. And you just proved my point with that embarrassing comprehension skill.
There's no way I'd say that about Oda-san. He's the opposite. He should take a hiatus or something, One Piece has been very rushed for almost a decade now. Biggest reason why it turned into garbage.
Or did you seriously think that previous statement wouldn't apply to AoT and Isayama so you thought I was talking about One Piece? That'd be more laughable. But considering how stupid you are, that could be the case.
I've said this in the forum but I'll say it again: Read something else, like books or novels or literatures. You have very narrow outlook on things, probably because you read and discuss nothing but One Piece. Broaden your horizon. There's more to japanese stuff than shounen manga. How am I supposed to take you seriously when you are still a manchild who has Goku as his favorite character? You are older than me, don't embarrass yourself more than this. Imagine writing all that pointless words and turning out having the wrong idea all along. It all wouldn't have happened if you had common sense and critical thinking -- something all AoT fans are lacking.
I don't need to see the ending to form an opinion on it. It's dumb since the very first chapter. It's all here, the cheesy dialogue, the 1 dimensional characterization, the overused shounen shenanigans. And it only gets worse as it loses its way because the mangaka doesn't want to end it and makes up random excuses for money.
Alot of fanservice found in FT, happens in OP as well. Except the difference to me, is that Mashima's intentions were a fun series, that isn't supposed to be taken seriously, and OP delves into politics and morality (albeit very shallow politics and shallow understanding of morality from my POV). Mashima and Oda are similar, in the sense the themes are similar in what they write, Mashima foreshadow quite a bit in FT (Ex. Fairy sphere was foreshadowed by 200-300 chapters), Mashima explored a specific region and it's culture (ex. edolas and tartoros), the characters act very similar (i think Natsu and Luffy are very similar, and no I do not think Luffy is morally gray or an anti-hero, if he is, then imo It's very poorly executed in my eyes), etc.
I am also talking about the OP manga, I dropped it at fishman island, due to how silly it had gotten, especially with Haki and what not.
Thank you so much for admitting that haki wasnt foreshadowed in chapter 1, I always bring this up and the fans always eat me up over it. So kuudos to you.
I'll give one piece points for its world building (I gave it a 8/10 for its world building alone, overall i gave the manga a 5/10, I gave FT manga a 6/10 for reference, and I gave it's world builing a 7.5/10). The humor in one piece I detest, I've noticed how serious things get in one piece, and then something funny happens (and this happens quite often). I remember something like this happening during the baratie arc (though It's very foggy to me), where I think Sanji was taking about something serious, and it quickly moved the scene to luffy and usopp doing "humorous" things, and OP did it quite often from what I remember, it has these constant tonal shifts that I believe weaken the atmosphere and stakes of the story (Fairytail has the same problems as well, and berserk suffers the most from this). You're not supposed to take Fairytail seriously, that was mashima's intent, and it seems he succeeded, the problem is that people expected it to be serious when it isnt. When it comes to one piece, oda wants you to take it seriously and satirically at the same time, and I think he fails at it for me due to his poor understanding of Tonal Shifts, from my point of view atleast.
Mashima does plan stories (like rave), and there are times where he doesn't plan them (faiytail), there are times when he does both at the same time (Eden's Zero). Mashima is easily versatile in this regard, from my POV atleast.
The only arc I can name at the top of my head (since it's been so long since I read it), is Long Ring Island, sure it sets up events and has some from foreshadowing, I just found it unnecessary, and I felt like I wasted 20 chapters for nothing. Alot of the set up and foreshadowing just didn't need to be there. And I feel like half of one piece is like this, its just one set up after another, and it becomes formulaic for me (which lowers the stakes for me), and the climax OP sets up before hand, just feels lackluster at times, and I dont think the build up is worth it. East blue and several arcs between it and alabasta were used to build up the climax in alabasta, and overall i put in like 150-200 chapters, for a climax I consider to be very weak and mediocre. Same logic for the arcs after it. The only arcs I really rated higher than the rest of OP arcs are W7 + EL (7.0/10) and Marineford (7.5-8.0), for reference I gave berserk Golden Age Arc (8.0/10), Jojo Part 7 (8.0/10), Fairytail Tartoros (7.5/10), Farmland Saga Vinland Saga (8.5/10) and Prologue arc (7.0/10), etc.
I havent gotten to dressrosa, so i cant say much, but i heard it was 100+ chapters and many people didnt like waiting for the chapters.
And yes I have responded, thank you for your time.
I didn't realize you took my response seriously, i apologize, my response was merely sarcasm. However since you took your time to write this, I'll respond to it. Also your comment was deleted, I'm not sure why that was, I didnt delete it tho
While I do think fairytail is lackluster at times, alot of the criticism against it is usually bandwagon hate. MAL has a culture for hating anything that's mashima related, and many of them have criticism in bad faith. But media is subjective as you've said, I cannot do much to voice the unreasonable hate against fairytail, other than complaining about it, and give sarcastic comments underneath the comments of many people. Unfortunately, personally for me, I too, find your criticism to be in bad faith, no offence. I don't think you genuinely hate FT, I think you've been a victim of conformity bias, as with most fairytail haters. Alot of the strengths found in oda's works are found within fairytail. The only problem is that I believe is that people unconsciously skip over it's strengths and only focus on it's flaws.
This same conformity bias is the reason why one piece and berserk are rated as highly as they are. Any criticism against one of these 2 series nets you a world of harassment by anime and manga fans. I tend to criticize both series quite a bit, because they suffer from the same things that Fairytail suffers from. The only reason i dont criticize FT for the same things is because it's already been done so many times. There's no reason for me to criticize it since so many other people have done it.
I'll get crucified for saying this, but I checked your review on one piece. But i'm sorry, but I think oda has a juvenile understanding on Foreshadowing. He foreshadows alot, but alot of the things he foreshadows, I believe dont need to be foreshadowed. He wastes several arcs just for the foreshadowing, which makes half the arcs unnecessary, and many of these elements as I've said before don't need foreshadowing. Good Foreshadowing for me, is when used efficiently, I prefer quality over quantity. And from my point of view, Oda uses foreshadowing for it's quantity, not it's quality. Thats why I criticize half the one piece's arcs for being lacklustre and underwhelming.
