I've been watching anime, for a couple years now, and it seemed like it was time to finally organize what I had seen, wanted to see, and was seeing (this last quarter saw me watching at least 5 shows at once, and that got kinda confusing). Plus,
I wanted to rant and rave about the shows I hated and loved.
Over the course of my anime-watching career I have come to realize that anime - animation is a medium, not a genre; that is to say, you can tell any kind of story using animation, whether its a crime thriller, robot action story, or cute slice of life.
For me, this means that anime is like a sea of sewage punctuated by island paradises; if you just dive in, you'll drown, so you have to fly overhead and land selectively if you want to experience the good stuff while avoiding the ocean of crap.
My mission is to navigate this dangerous sea and find all the treasure islands scattered throughout.
