For example, why would police officer dude send Yukiteru and Yuno to a very busy amusement park to draw out 9, who had recently used explosives in a busy area to eliminate them?
If 9 was intending to blow up the entire school all along, why not do it from the beginning? Then eliminating Yukiteru would have been trivially easy.
Why was the school was quick to go from turning Yukiteru in to trying to help him?
Why were they so openly discussing the diaries in the courtyard of the school?
I know that suspension of disbelief is necessary in fiction, but Mirai Nikki is needlessly abusing it. Compare to Mawaru Penguindrum, which has similar themes and style, and requires a similar, if not greater, level of suspension of disbelief, but works, because actions are explained and make sense for the characters. It has a coherency and consistency that Mirai Nikki simply lacks, plus far more interesting characters.
On the subject of characterization, I find the monologue where Yukiteru essentially explains his character flaws to Yuno in the stairwell lazy and unnecessary. It's not clear what caused his sudden, very acute analysis of himself, (which I found out of character, considering he had just established he never observed himself) and there was no reason for him to reveal it to Yuno on the stairwell at that moment, especially considering their mortal danger.
I'm not really enjoy the series at all, even though everything but the writing is great. If you can't assure me the writing doesn't improve, then I am prepared to drop it.
