Since the 1-10 scale on this site is kind of all over the place, and different numbers can mean different things to different people, I figured I should share how I rate my Japanese animes:

10- Fantastic. Shows I give a 10 not only resonate with myself personally; but they are also shows that I think more people- not just anime fans- should watch in general. Solid story, solid production values, essentially a flawless anime. (though nothing is above criticism!) A wonderful journey from start to finish.

9- Bravo! Something I enjoyed whole-heartedly. In some cases this show would have received a 10, but I might have had 1 or 2 hangups about it, so I just give it a 9 instead. It's pretty darn close to perfect though, so I still think it's worth your time.

8- Great! Something I liked a whole bunch- maybe even intensely! It could have a few things holding it back, but if any of these had movies, more seasons, OVA's, or whatever, I would still be interested in seeing them in addition to the anime that receive this score. Much like 9 & 10, these shows are still worth checking out if they sound like something you'd enjoy.

7- Good! Still two points above average, which is pretty darn good in my opinion. Maybe I didn't enjoy it as intensely as some of the fans who are obsessed with these shows, but if someone asked me "Hey, do you like this show? you gave it a 7." I would still say "Yeah, I liked that show!"

6- Pretty Good. There's something about it that makes it stand out compared to your average animu, and I genuinely enjoyed watching it. This was a pleasant experience, but not something I'd be quick to write home about.

5- Average. That isn't to say that I disliked it or anything, it's just that it didn't instill any strong feelings in me one way or the other. If I give this score to your favorite show, please don't feel too bad, because like I said, it's not like I hated it. (Plus you are entitled to your own opinion)

4- Below Average. It "could have been better". I guess I would call shows that score a 4 to be "sub-par" or "below average", and I didn't really like it all that much. We have officially landed in "bad" territory.

3- Yeesh. A show that garners a 3 is very bad to me. It's not just regular bad- it's very bad! So many things went wrong here, I can't even wrap my head around it. Depending on who you ask this show could still be watch-able, but I would consider you a brave soul if you did.

2- Yikes. That was pretty freaking terrible. Why did I even watch this? Because a friend made me? Because I'm a masochist? Morbid curiosity? Either way, if I gave this show a 2 instead of just a straight up 1, it's probably because it maybe had 1 or 2 things that I liked. Maybe a character I hated throughout the show finally dies. Or maybe the show was trying to tick me off from the start, and succeeded in doing so. So in that sense, it's not 100% awful, but still pretty gott-dang terrible. I'm not even sorry.

1- Why? Why would someone make this? It makes me go "What was the point of all this?!" and I hated it from start to finish. I can't even find something NICE to say about this show. If you asked me to find at least one thing about this show that I did enjoy, I wouldn't even be able to.
