Happy Birthday!

I hope Michael (below) didn't scare you away with his figurine collection lol.

Hey! Since you're into collecting figurines, I thought I'd share my collection with you.

Haha, don't mention it. It seems we've both been getting increasingly late with our replies!

Yeah, Beastars season 3 should be amazing. I wonder if Louis will be able to regrow his foot or not lol. Also, it'll be interesting to see if they introduce any new characters (not seen in the anime before). Speaking as a slightly older than average user, Beastars was really something intellectual nutritious and satisfyingly succulent for an adult mind to sink their teeth into (pun intended)!

Certainly, I've become increasingly addicted to Tokyo Revengers these past few months. I love the plot twists and how new things keep cropping up in Takamichi's quest to alter the future course of events. The time-traveling and different timelines aspect reminds me of Erased and Steins;Gate and is really well blended with the juvenile delinquent/gangster thriller elements. Also, some of the characters are really colorful and comedic personalities (Mikey and Drakon), and are endearing or charismatic in spite of their flaws or misdemeanors. I'd say Takamichi was one of the best and most sympathetic shounen protagonists I've come across so far, and the English dub VA is doing an excellent job.

I'm just finishing of 86 at the moment and have to say it's been superb. I think watching it spread out over a couple of months has detracted from it slightly and I can imagine if I watched it at a faster pace, I'd really be blown away by it. There have been some very emotionally powerful moments and I can imagine it being a tearjerker for some. It really puts me in mind of AOT with the intense drama and wartime setting, and Sawano does the OST as well, which just gives it even more of that coloring and flavor. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you like AOT to any degree. Oh, there's a 2nd season scheduled as well, so there's still lots more to come and look forward to with the franchise.

Mob Psycho is something I've not got into yet but I hear talked about a lot by other users. It's probably only a matter of time until I get around to it, but what do you most like about it, and why do you hold it in such high regard? Considering the legions of Mob fans out there, I can well image it making some seriously large waves of excitement and hype when it finally hits the MAL shores. Talking about sequels we're most looking forward to, I'd say Beastars season 3, Overlord season 4, Dr. Stone season 3, Vinland Saga season 2, Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War, and AOT Final (part 2) are what I'm most looking forward to in the future. Oh, and the forthcoming SAO Progressive movie lol. Can't forget about SAO can we! How about you?

It's been nice talking Minikitti, take care, and hopefully we can chat about anime some more in the future!

I've been enjoying a Beastars season 2 rewatch. The dialogue, voice acting, visuals, and OST, are all masterfully put together and of the finest quality, and it's one of the most original series I've come across. It certainly deserves the 10/10 I've given it. I'm so glad that a third season has been announced. I just can't get enough of those anthropomorphic talking animals!

Yeah, I've also been seriously impressed by Tokyo Revengers. It kinda reminds me of Erased but crossed with the gangster tousels, machinations, and betrayals of 91 Days, and blended with a shounen, Naruto-style vibe. Every episode has had me completely enthralled and it's fast become an addictive watch. It's probably my fave new series and the best new thing I've come across for a long time. I'm only on episode 9 because I'm following it dubbed, but I'm really looking forward to where it goes next.

To Your Eternity is still hard to place but it's very easy to watch the episodes and the latest story arc, with the disfigured boy with the helmet, was quite affecting and moving. The OST is really nice and overall it exudes an air of quality. Once again, I'm a bit behind the pace because I'm following it dubbed but I have high expectations for it, moving forward.

Have you heard of or seen a series called 86? It's a war-themed action and psychological anime kinda reminiscent of AOT and it features a rather fine Sawano OST. It's pretty heavy and thought-provoking but also regularly punctuated with comedic or beautiful moments. I'd definitely recommend it!

Don't worry about lateness as I've fallen far behind schedule myself, recently. We'll just do what we can, from now on!

To Your Eternity has started off in a rather strange way with a very unusual concept at the heart of the story. I'm watching dubbed so I'm only on episode 4, but it's quite unlike anything else I've seen before. I just don't know what to make of it, or even how I feel about it or the characters yet, but the OST and visuals have been pretty good. What are Tokyo Revengers strongest features how does it differ from other shounen or thrillers?

Sk8 ended pretty well. It was a nice of change of pace and had a different vibe than anything I'd seen before. Reiki was the best and most memorable character with the most convincing personality for me, by the end. He was kinda the star of the show but I think part of the reason for that may have been particularly fine voice acting in the dub. He had a lot of warmth, charm, and humility.

Sleepy Princess is pretty much a straight-up comedy about a princess kidnapped by a demon lord and used as bait for a hero, and because they really need her they can't harm her or even punish her for her misdeeds in any way, and there are plenty of misdeeds. Lol. There's a fair amount of cuteness and the art style is rather colorful and pretty. I used to watch it before bed and it seems ideally suited for when you want to relax with something playful lighthearted.

Hi again, to you too! It has been a little while, hasn't it!

I'm ticking over nice and steady and just trying to make little improvements in day-to-day life. How have you been, and any new fave series in particular?

I've quite enjoyed Sk8 actually, and only have the final episode left to watch (I'm a bit behind because I'm watching dubbed, you see). I hope the snowboarding Canadian guy can beat Adam, in the grand finale, and get out of it unscathed. That guy Adam is such a bastardo. Whatever his personal reasons for being like that are, I don't think that forgives him, or excuses what he's done to his competitors, especially with that Love Hug maneuver, and trying to whack someone, head-on, using his board. I also mention Sk8 because I see you recently finished the series yourself! All in all, it was quite an exhilarating experience with the high-speed races and acrobatics and there was some nice underlying drama, as well. I'm glad I picked it up!

Other than that, I really enjoyed Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. Partly because of my interest in sleep and falling asleep (sometimes I have difficulties with this, myself) and partly because of the comedy and funny lines. It's quite the underrated and unique gem, I think.

Oh, Cells at Work season two and Code Black has been really entertaining and informative, as well. Have you heard of that franchise, and if so, what are your thoughts?

Likewise, I didn't have many people to talk to about anime until I joined this site. I think it's a pretty niche interest where I live, but this is kinda nice because you wouldn't want everybody to be into the same sort of things as you, anyway. MAL provides more than enough anime chatter for me lol.

I'm guessing the Midwest has a lot of cattle and live animal ranches/farms and it's probably ingrained in their traditions and food culture. Also, I'm guessing the weather would be ideal for that kinda thing. It rains most of the days of the year in the North West of England so dry summer days are the only time that's really suitable for firing up the barbie.

I'm not sure if I said this before or not but I've seen 6 episodes of OPM season 1 but wasn't bowled over by it. The action scenes seemed a bit childish but on the upside, there was some decent humor. I should really try to push through to the end one day because it's the 5th most popular series on MAL, and I've seen the other top 4, already. It would be nice to have the top 5 ticked off. How about you, have you seen all of MAL's top 5 most popular series? Out of them (or the ones you've watched), which is your fave? I'd probably say mine was AOT. It has been a while since I last saw FMAB but I'd say that would fall slightly short of AOT, for me personally. I'm actually holding out for the English dubbed releases of the latest AOT because I got a bit confused in the first episode with the new characters, and all this furious action and destruction whizzing around and all. I'd like to give Mob a try sometime in the future. What would you say its strongest qualities or best selling points were?

After seeing that banana fish combo recipe I sent you perhaps you'll wish you never asked for me to share those kinda things. Lol. It did look quite tasty from the photographs, though. Do you feel tempted enough to give it a bash? I think you should ;)

Yeah, the first Promised Neverland episode was great and it was nice that I could follow the subtitles with this one. I've not read the manga so it was all new, unexpected, and surprising to me. I was amazed at the holographic pen thingy that was a map and revealed their location. We hadn't seen that kind of technology in the first season. Plus, the monsters/demons were quite scary in how they were portrayed. I have another MAL friend in America who said he and his friend were laughing at how fast the kids could run. Lol. For me, I suspend my disbelief when I watch these kinda things, and literally, anything becomes possible.

Same to you. Be brave again this year, and hopefully we can make it through to our very own Promised Land. As I just said, I've not read the manga so I don't know what happens in the end, but I can't help feeling the title The Promised Neverland sounds ominous in some way. Like it's just a fantasy 'Neverland' that's never going to be realized, or there's no such place, to begin with. We'll see. I'm still holding out some hope! I still think there's a chance that Norman might be OK because we didn't see anything definite happen to him. Maybe he was taken away somewhere else, to help the demons or something.

Feel free to hit me up to chat whenever you want. You always have a friend waiting for you here on MAL. I think we sun sign Aquarius people should stick together :)

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been snowed under with comments and new MAL friends recently.

Ah, I didn't know the midwest was synonymous with BBQ. I've learned something new there! BBQ is something we have over here in the summer months but it seemed more frequent when I was a kid. It's something more for families than for single people, I guess.

I used to have a cat when I was younger and lived in the country. City life seems less well suited to pets, I think.

Yeah, there's also the same sort of nonplussed, deadpan expression in both Mob and Saitama. What did you think of OPM season 2? I've seen it come in for some flak on MAL but I've only seen the first half of season 1, myself.

I used paprika together with some other spices on the salmon I cooked last night. I definitely like a little (or a hefty) kick in my food lol.

I guess bananas and fish have the healthy thing going on but it's not a combo I've encountered before in any cuisine. After a little searching around, I discovered this recipe, combining the two. Have a look:
https://www.caligirlcooking.com/fish-with-bananas/

Are you looking forward to, or ready to begin, the new Promised Neverland? The first episode is available now so I might take a look later on tonight. I wonder how many episodes there will be in this season? I can't believe it's been two years since the first season first aired. I had just become (properly) active on MAL at that time, I remember.

Happy New Year btw, and if you ever want to talk more about anime, then feel free to hit me up, anytime :)
SuperGreenTea Dec 19, 2020 4:23 AM
I just thinking, Mob (your avatar) looks like Saitama (OPM) if he had undergone hair transplant therapy lol.

Also, what's your fave dish employing paprika? I like using it in my South Asian-style curries :)

Also, for someone who's a big foodie, do you know of any recipes that combine fish and bananas?
SuperGreenTea Dec 18, 2020 9:08 PM
Thanks for the friend request. Quite a lot of my MAL friends are from the US :)

What type of cuisine does your restaurant specialize in? What are the names of your two cats?

You've just become my 400th friend, would you believe it!

Thanks for your response to the HxH thread. I'm currently rewatching HxH and Knuckle really stands out as an interesting character - a macho, tough-guy exterior with a sensitive soul on the inside. He also has a really unique and interesting ability with his Nen APR thingy. You have accrued interest...It is time! Also, Pakunoda was very devoted to Chrollo (perhaps the member most devoted to him) and sacrificed herself for the good of the group. Her mind-reading abilities and memory bullets made her a one of a kind specialist.

It's nice to see Promised Neverland in your faves as well. I can't wait for the second season in January. How will the kids get on in the outside world, I wonder :)
