Why hello there! I am Mike-Wrecked, but I'm normally just called Mike. This account is fairly new, but I've been a dedicated fan of anime since 2015. In terms of milestones, I don't really remember that much, however I can say that Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu was the anime that got me into the medium. Favorite genre hands down is Romance, however I'm also a fan of Mystery and even Action to an extent.
To go into further detail; I've tried to make an effort to make my ranks as cohesive as possible. Of course, some anime are stronger than others, despite having the same rank, but I tend to avoid giving 10s and 1s, since both of these evoke some pretty hefty emotions.
This is how my ranks work, basically:
10: Masterpiece
A score reserved for the truly amazing ones out there. An anime with this score kept me hooked from beginning to end and had very few faults, if any. Whilst I don't rewatch things often, these would be great candidates for doing so. (e.g. Hyouka)
9: Amazing
Fantastic but maybe had one or two problems with it. I almost consider 9 as a lower version of 10 rather than a higher 8. Because to me, a 9 is a 10 that was brought down for a specific reason or two. (e.g. Death Parade)
8: Great
Solid, but nothing outstanding. Managed to keep me invested well enough, and made me glad I stuck around to see it. (e.g. GJ-bu)
7: Good
Still quality, but maybe not quite solid. Usually the shows with this score managed to up my expectations a bit, but not too much so. (e.g. D-Frag)
6: Fine
Has a few problems, but the overall experience was still worth it in the end. The positives outweighed the negatives, so to speak. (e.g. Kyoukai no Kanata)
5: Middle of the road
Average, inoffensive. Positives and negatives are about the same level. This is also where the somewhat unimportant shows go. Probably won't come back to these much. Oh, and this is the highest possible score I'll usually give a show I've dropped. (e.g. Komori-san wa Kotowarenai)
4: Bad
A point where the negatives are so glaring they outshine the good. This is where the anime's either just lazy and didn't try to be anything great (Like what most Ecchi tends to be) or it's rather boring. Nowadays I'd imagine I give this score only to things I've dropped. (e.g. Omamori Himari)
3: Terrible
This is when the anime starts to personally offend me in many ways. The effort put into it was most likely non-existent both on my part and the people making it. Most likely has poor production values as well. (e.g. Seireitsukai no Blade dance)
2: Horrendous
The last realistic score I'd give a series. By that I mean, an anime being this bad is quite unlikely, but not completely so. This stuff is just really poor and I actively hate it whenever I see it. (e.g. Photokano)
1: Dumpster Fire
A score reserved for the truly awful ones out there. An anime with this score is the type that I wish I had never laid eyes on, and in general, I wish it didn't exist in the first place. If you see me give this score to anything, please take my word for it. Avoid it at all costs. (No example, I don't even want to give exposure to any show I'd give this score to)
Oh, and when it comes to manga, that stuff is a bit less consistent. Mainly because I've read so few manga to completion out there, the scoring system for that is definitely wonkier. (Doesn't help that basically every manga I've read is Romance)
And that's about it. My new goal is that I hit 300 completed anime by the end of 2018. Whilst I work on that, I hope you have a good day, and thanks for reading!
