Back to the topic....it seems the misunderstanding went way overboard, especially when you made the suggestion for them to cut ties. Both he and his friends probably assumed you had other plans to take him back. Indeed, cheaters shouldn't be given second chances, unless otherwise. He definitely seems to have felt bad for what happened, in that regard forgiveness may be an option. Threatening someone like that is totally toxic, just talking it out should be enough for the parties involved. I see, so most probably the relationship was already on the rocks, so by staying with you he was able to temporarily escape a toxic environment, which would, as a result affect him negatively. True, in such scenarios, it's better to avoid such a relationship. Even with all cards on the table, you may never know the joker being hidden up the sleeve.

To you, it seemed that you were trying to help him, but to the other individual, it seemed that you were trying to harm their relationship, which was definitely not your intention. To me, it seems they took the situation further that it needed to go without proper information, blaming you for something you never wanted to do. Most probably your behavo=iour towards him triggered the rest, so you became an easy target when shit got serious. I believe, when people have conflict, they should talk privately and avoid publicly arguing with each, but in this situation, all parties seem to be on a different wavelength.

That's great to hear. Ahh, I think I understand now. Sometimes a gut feeling is the best to go with, but we are all human after all. Perhaps the guy had malicious intent after he discovered your affection towards him. Getting a bad general feeling about something or rather someone is most of the time overshadowed by such thoughts. A similar thing did happen to me a few years ago, but not to your extent though. After the relationship took a turn for the worst, I seriously despised myself for not noticing the red flags....for not following my gut, it took me almost two years to bounce back to a better place.
But enough about me, it seems like both the guys were in on it, so it's no surprise really. I wouldn't want to pry too much because it seems to be a super sensitive topic. What I just can't understand is why some people always feels the need to be assholes and do the most despicable shit. But, we are all human after all, keeping ones intentions in check is always difficult...even for me. I just hope you're doing much better now ^^

I definitely didn't mean I wouldn't take any offence, I just meant it had to be on serious levels for me to remotely bother with it, but people tend to approach different situations differently after all. No worries, you seem like one of the few chilled people on this website.
