I am highly interested in maths, cinema, science, art, classical music, far east culture and pretty much everything. I mostly listen to nothing but Yakushimaru Etsuko and Soutaiseiriron. Ohh, gotcha. I'm in a similar vein to you, I watched a ton of highly recommended classics until I found my place in Japanese cinema, love to see you mention Japanese New Wave. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what made them so engrossing but the directorial work felt so different and unique every time. Eureka, Harakiri, Seven Samurai, Woman in the Dunes, Late Spring, just talking about them makes me want to go kick-start another binge.
Hmm, relationships? Like romance? If so, my two recommendations right off the bat would be Emma and Please Save My Earth!
Yeah, I went on a full film binge around October and clocked 100+ films before burning myself out. Now I'm back to seasonals and what not, the world goes round I suppose. If you have one, shoot me your link!
