I love action series, and I'm seriously picky about animation. I very rarely watch anime anymore because the animation is often so terrible. Even when it has it's good spots, it's hard for me to get past all those BAD spots. I do not have a very large attention span.
And so I much prefer OVA's and movies.

I'm also very picky about artwork. When choosing manga, I always look at art first. More often than not I come into new series because the art attracted me. Once in a blue moon, someone influential to me will talk about an anime, and it will get my attention enough for me to at least check it out.
But sometimes that's a problem, too. Even when recommended something, even by a friend, I may not always check a series out.
Don't ask me how you can get me to check out a series. xD Try posting some really nice official artwork or something. It may get my attention. If it's an anime, post a cool gif (hint: use an action scene).

I do have some BL and yaoi series on my list, but you may not want to bother recommending me anything as I'm not a big fan of the genre.
