My goal/aim is to find the perfect anime. Now, this may be impossible as the saying goes "nothing is perfect", but I am still determined. There are many different genres in anime, I know, and different people enjoy different things, but I am trying to find the perfect anime based on my enjoyment. Of course my personality and preference may change in the future but I still want to earnestly try. Saying that, as my personality changes with time, so will the requirements for the perfect anime. So if even if I found the perfect anime for me, it might not be so perfect a year later. All the better! More to choose.
The kind I am looking for is one with the perfect balance of laughter and sobriety. Something with a strong and meaningful plot. I'm looking for one with serene atmosphere. It may be a high school anime, or a sports anime, or something else, I don't know.
I will keep on watching, keep on trying. I believe it's out there, somewhere...
P.S. My manga list is a dayum mess, don't even bother.

nice to meet you
It is pretty cheesy, but at least it wasn't a huge part of it. Also, I love the couples themselves. They're cute. It's good that they didn't dwell on the marriage at the end. Pretty solid ending as far as manga goes. Most anime and manga seem to not end well. It's the journey. My favorite part of Bakuman was the meta aspect I think. It was semi-realistic, while adding in some ridiculous shounen jump moments.
I want to finish it, but can't read Japanese, so I'll have to wait for it all to be scanlated. I have not seen anything about Hikaru no Go yet. I'll go check out the MAL page.
(Sorry for the wicked late response. Schoolwork + JoJo= 0.01 hours of free time)
Are you a movie addict? Or do you enjoy casually watching a movie together with your friends? If films, animated or live-action ones are something you like, have you ever wondered about participating in such activities where you can discuss about your favorite movies with your friends on MAL?
If the above facts catch your interest, come and join The Cinema Club! ;-)

As a series I like Oofuri much better. I really like the idea of not having a speed pitcher, and Mihashi's insecurity and lack of confidence really drew me into the series. Even when they do have genius, he is still handicapped, which is nice because it prevents him from being too OP. The rivalries are also really nice, it's not all sugary and cute. I like that when Tajima thought Hanai was bullying Mihashi, he said it straight out, and he apologized sincerely when Hanai cleared the misunderstanding.
Now onto Haikyuu, to be honest I didn't like it that much, for one main reason. I didn't like the random comedic moment that interrupts the match, and this problem does not occur only in Haikyuu, but many other newer sports anime, like Daiya no Ace, Kuroko no Basket and Yowamushi Pedal for example. Back to Haikyuu, that really ruined the "intensity" of the match, and disrupt the flow of the match, result in my lack of immersion for the show in general.
What I like about Oofuri over Haikyuu or many other sports series out there is probably the characters' dilemmas. Especially Mihashi's.
What about you?
I just noticed that we have similar taste in anime, Ookiku Furikabutte, Hikaru no Go, Natsume Yuujincho and you also liked Chihayafuru season 1 better than season 2, which is rare. I don't see Kuuchuu Buranko or Nodame Cantabile on your list, those are my favorites as well.
