9: Fantastic. A category for anime that stand out in the best of ways.
8: Very enjoyable. Well-put-together, emotionally engaging experiences.
7: Enjoyable. May have some flaws but still worthwhile. Good but not great.
6: Decent. Still enjoyable but with significant flaws or not enough going for it.
5: Mediocre. A mixed bag of bad and good elements. meh
4: Flawed in a way that prevents it from being good. Lacking in some major aspect.
3: Very flawed but not actively offensive, or somewhat offensive despite being well put together
2: Either exceptionally poorly put together or offensive in some way. Often downright baffling.
1: No redeeming qualities.
I learned what anime was when I was like 13 and got obsessed with Death Note and Bleach. Watched a bunch of Pokemon, Yugioh, and Kirby as a kid, but I don't include them on my list mostly because I'm not sure when and how much I watched of each of them.
The things I look for most in media are well-written characters, good pacing/story structure, and well-developed themes. I can overlook a lot if a show has those.
I also love garbage! It's nice to watch things that aren't all that great as a palette cleanser between good shows. Bad shows are usually also fun to laugh at and/or critically dissect.
I took a couple of semesters of Japanese in college and tend to watch anime with subs for most newer shows. With older shows I tend to watch dubs if they're available. The directing and scripts for old dubs (before around 2004-ish) give them a certain special quality.
When deciding whether or not to drop a series, I use what I like to call the 1-2-4 rule:
Episode 1 often gives viewers the main hook of the series. If you don't find the basic premise of the show to be engaging, it's safe to drop here.
Episode 2 is usually the end of the story setup or first mini arc. In manga adaptations, episode 2 is often also the end of the 4-chapter sales pitch used to get a series published in the first place. If you're bored at this point, it's probably safe to drop.
Episodes 3-4 show what the series will actually be like going forward. These 2 episodes usually reveal whether or not the author will stay true to the promises made at the start of a series. If the show suddenly turns into something boring or unappealing, it's safe to drop.
It's better to watch a bad anime and then be pleasantly surprised when reading the manga than read a good manga and then be disappointed with a bad adaptation.
Fate: Recommended watching order: Unlimited Blade Works -> Heaven's Feel -> Zero Reasoning: Watching Zero first spoils most of the twists in Heaven's Feel and removes much of the sense of mystery from UBW.
Zero is a prequel, and prequels should be watched after the original story.
Jojo: Anime ranking: Part 4 ≥ Part 6 s3 ≥ Part 6 s1 > Part 3 s2 > Part 1 ≥ Part 3 s1 ≥ Part 2 > Part 6 s2 >>>>>>> Part 5
Part 5 sets up so many interesting ideas at the beginning that it then goes on to do nothing with. Most of the fights with Giorno (after Black Sabbath) are really boring because of how poorly defined his powers are. Giorno is bland and has no personality, making Part 5 difficult to feel invested in.
People who complained about Part 6's release schedule enjoy hype culture more than they enjoy actually watching anime.
Mushoku Tensei:
People who like Mushoku Tensei have something wrong with them. The most common issues being extremely poor media literacy, not seeing women and girls as people, or genuinely believing what Rudy does in the first season is perfectly okay.
The fact that Mushoku Tensei is worshiped as one of the greatest isekai stories ever by such a large portion of anime fans says a lot about the state of anime as a fandom.
At long last, I have finally finished the So Bad It's Good stack. It took me a while because as per your description, I couldn't really watch Big Order until I had already seen Future Diary and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders to understand it (to add to it, I'd say Fate/Stay Night is very obviously an influence as well). Quite possibly the most entertaining conclusion to an already wild ride of an interest stack.
Yes, I watched it dubbed. It had some of that old school dub charm to it without being terrible, but honestly I've gotten a little tired of hearing Johnny Yong Bosch every single anime I watch.
Upon further consideration, it might actually be a weird choice to include Tokyo Ghoul in that stack because your description talks about anime that have fitting (if not open-ended) conclusions that warranted no further sequels. Even though Tokyo Ghoul goes downhill after season 1, I would definitely not call the first season a good conclusion to the series, as it ends on a total cliff-hanger with way too many unanswered questions. Code Geass however has absolutely nothing left to explore after season 2.
BTW I would definitely put Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, Gantz, Kenpuu Denki Berserk, and Tokyo Ghoul in the "Quit While You're Ahead" stack.

Watching Jobless Reincarnation. I realize now where that one point from your Actually Good Isekai stack came from about casting spells without incantations. It looks like you and I both agree that it's very overrated lol.
welp personally for me under 7 means it was like a c tier show, so I dont normally consider seeing a 6 too be such a good thing. And I figured it wasn't after seeing some of your 7s bc once again my god pharmacy in another world was one of the most 5/10 shows I ever did sleep through. Its been fun though enjoy the rest of your anime weebery
So my entire former response got deleted and I'm too much of a lazy fuck too invalidate all your points again, so like sports fans would say scoreboard, ima say " MAL RATINGS L BOZO", and be done with this shit. Your frankly beyond the point of help when you can't appreciate s tier shows like mt, konosuba, Tensura, Rezero, and hxh. Eva = 8.3. Negl too you in this response you sounded like a womens right activist who actually believes men are disgusting and loves yaoi. And then i saw that you liked villainess and I was like ok i knew it. We need more Kazumas in this world. Anyways that wraps up my points, and yeah welp I feel a lil bad for you I guess.
So first off all i would like too say: FAKE ANIME FAN. jk but i find it funny that that is the only reason people can come up with for thinking ths show sucked. And if you didnt DROP season 2 you would see hes not really always getting rewarded. Though the series has a light hearted beginning about this perverted man child who tbh probably should disgust you and id be a little scared if he didnt. The entire series is a redemption arc, plain and simple. This series is something you need too stick with its gonna be something thats gonna genuinely make you feel for this guy. Rudeus is a pedophile hands down and certainly not the most likeable character, he makes mistakes, he does make loli dolls, and he does find sexual attraction in little kids. But when it comes down to it, it all makes sense. People who watch anime are too used too characters being idealized, so when some guy who isn't such a likeable person comes along, they tend too hate it. And I get that your a female so you might not understand the male mindset as well, but tbh I can't say what Rudeus does would be way too different then what alot of guys would probably do, and thats the series charm. My best advice for you is too stick it out. If you drop the series now your gonna come too regret it. Also just wondering can you give me one other problem with the show cause I haven't heard a single person give a legit good complaint about the series?
