Hmm, you're right about the airing part, I didn't actually think about that.
About Another, I think the show had a pretty good atmosphere established during the first few episodes, I think it sort of crashed down around the time that they show the reason for avoiding their classmate. It kind of turned into a semi different show than what it had started with in my opinion. I mean I'll be honest, I mostly just laughed when everybody started dying. So I can't say I agree with your comment on that one, I felt like it had lost it's suspense.
I haven't read Uzumaki yet, but I have read quite a few of his horror collection stories. They're all pretty short and mostly hit and miss, Tomie probably being the best one out of those that I have read so far. There was also Gyo... which sure was an interesting one.
Huh, there was a lot more behind Arslan Senki than I thought, had no idea. I suppose I'll pick both of them up.. and here I was planning to take it easy this season, I guess that's not happening. I also need to start reading One Punch Man, it has been on my to read list forever now.
As far as the Dredd universe goes, I have seen the 1995 version (which was so-so in my opinion). I really really enjoyed the new one though, especially the Slo-Mo scenes which are one of the best looking things I've seen.
I also did enjoy Prometheus and I don't think it deserves the amount of hate that it receives. But Alien is also my all time favorite movie so I kept hoping it would have had more to do with Xenomorphs. Luckily now with the announcement of the new Alien movie coming I won't care so much about that with the next movie. No other movie even comes close to how much I am looking forward to seeing that one.
With horror I'll watch anything as long as it looks interesting, indie or not. As for the ones you mentioned, I have seen Troll Hunter, Grave Encounters and VHS (also the second one, didn't like that one though). I must have missed The Babadook and As Above So Below as I have never heard of those 2. But they look interesting so I'll be sure to watch them.
My own favorites.. I already mentioned Alien. But it's a bit hard to remember, wish I had something like MAL for it. Anyway those that come to mind are The Descent, Event Horizon, REC and I also remember I liked Dread (2009) quite a bit.
Also ever since I started with anime I have been looking into Japanese horror movies a lot more (besides stuff like The Grudge and The Ring etc). Recently watched Marebito, Dark Water and Noroi.
That brings up a question, what do you think about horror in anime/manga? I mean it's a lot harder to do from what I've seen. I think an example of doing it well would be Shiki, I think the first part had a genuine "creepy" feeling about it, the second part is quite different, but still enjoyed it. The first season of Higurashi as well. Manga is a lot harder because you don't have access to sound, which I think is one of the most important if not the most important part of horror.
So I came across your profile and noticed the rather high compatibility (84.5%, manga pretty high too) and figured that I'd leave a comment.
Anyway, it was really fun reading through your list since you commented on them. Probably something I should do as well when I change the css (currently a pain to read them since you have to mouse over to see).
Figure I'd ask some questions
I know it's a bit hard to say with just one episode, but do you think Arslan Senki and Kekkai Sensen are worth picking up? And what show are you most looking forward to watching? I was also curious since you mentioned you are into science fiction since I am as well (horror too for that matter). So I was curious if you had any favorites outside of anime?
Oh and I also sent a friend request, hope you don't mind.
Well, Roriconfan IS a self-declared Elitist who hates pretty much every anime post-2000's, which is pretty fucking ironic due to the fact that most loli anime came out at that time. I remember having exchanged opinions with him a few times in the past, and although he is quite an ass, I also can't deny that he's also sometimes right. He is, after all, still ranked second in the Most-Helpful list. So at least he's got that going for him :P

I might as well throw out a recommendation http://myanimelist.net/manga/16688/Ibitsu on this one.
