City Hunter is a pretty typical Anime of the era to be honest, its very episodical, there is no grand story going on in the background, it has a few serious moments but mainly is a comedy.
I found it best seen as something you watch one or two episodes a day, its not interesting enough to be watched in one go but its definitely an okay Anime to kill time with.

It has a strong start but the latter parts of the Anime become repetitive and a bit too silly at times, typical issues of long serialised manga adaptions.
I am still going to watch the season 2 and 3, cause I heard those are much better, but we shall see.

Hey I ... just finished Sonny Boy... like 6 months later LOL. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and analysis. A lot of it makes sense and I def picked up on some of those themes and conclusions. Some of the more minor plot points that happen throughout the story, or mini revalations/epiphanies the characters come to confused me (the dog episode and the two twins episode esp) but the whole plot wrapped up in a way that was clear and satisfying enough, I suppose.

I do feel the anime was being extra philisophical and making these musings on life, the world, society.. etc more than it needed to. It felt like it was trying hard to be dense and sophisticated for the sake of it,, or at least that's what my simpler-minded brain thought hehe. It still was more thought intriguing that most of the anime i've seen up to this point which counts for something, but idk, it doesn't necessarily make it a super enjoyable one.

The ending song was peak and got to me emotionally too .

Hikaru no Go was really good, I really wanted to see more, but in a way it did end at the appropriate time.
I did feel that the OST got a bit repetitive at the end though LOL but its a long shounen anime so I suppose thats a given.

Such a shame there so few anime like it and most of them are sports themed.

Holy shit my man, 510 days, I gotta ask how are you cause I know very well in my darkest days, time was mostly filled with anime back in 2009 - 2013

I've been watching through sonny boy, have you seen that? Like most I find it pretty confusing, but it's kinda intriguing. A lot of the musing the show offers is boring to me, at least the middle episodes. What are your thoughts ?

Having watched Hikaru no Go, I finally realise why I love and absolute despise watching good anime, the great feeling and intellect gained from watching, to dissect how it was made and follow the characters as they develop or journey is something I love.

But then, you become heart broken when the series ends, its over, thats it, no more, its like loosing a good friend.
Its a really nasty feeling, and leaves you depressed for a day or two.

Mix that with such disappointing row of anime the past 10 years thats been coming out more often I wish it did not, I can only count on one hand how many God tier series have come out the last decade, mass production sucks the life out of everything.

A lot of people recommends Summertime Rendering, ironically I was gonna watch that when it aired, but just immense disappointment from all the trash that came out that season left me not wanting to watch anything and kept going back to reward old anime.

But I guess at the end of the day, if everything was God tier, what would God tier even be anymore? It probably get old after a while, watching mediocrity makes it even more worthwhile to watch good anime, in some ways its like walking through shit weather and arrive upon a log cabin that serves tea with some home made waffles. Its moments like those that makes you remember them.

I honestly have no idea how and where you get the energy to maintain a sane mind watching so much different anime, I struggle to find anything that I enjoy to sit through where I wont be grinding my teeth all the time and getting a headache for how poor the writing is, I can only assume that working 10 years in the entertainment industry has made it awfully difficult to turn my head off when watching stuff and not analyse it to death.

On my notepad list I quickly counted, there over 150 anime thats just sitting there with 1 - 3 episodes viewed and then I forget about it. Bad habit, I found a way to watch anime while taking a walk though, I use those AR glasses like Xreal Air, then I connect them to my smartphone and just dump whatever anime I absolutely despise watching but want to finish into a folder in OneDrive and when I go for a walk, I watch one or two episodes of that everyday.

I loved Hikaru no Go, its sorta similar to Death Note in a weird way (not talking about the art, which clearly, same artists) Hikaru quite literally has a shinigami like Ryuk but instead of killing criminals, they wreck people in Go. Its not a series I'd recommend to just anyone because it is about a board game most people aren't even familiar with + it does have a few episodes (75) But a seasoned anime fan like yourself, I would absolutely recommend.

I had big plans on watching Gundam but after I finished watching that first series from 1979 or whatever, I was so burnt. Haven't watched anything else since. Gundam Wing is still on the PTW

Ahah~ :D Nice to meet you too!

Yeah, it's a bit sad that clubs tends to be quite dead these days.
Feeling quite bittersweet because of it~

But yeah. If I am being honest, I wasn't sure if you did like Utawarerumono. But I tried to look for people who could potentially like it. I am a massive, and I mean a massive fan of the franchise myself and since all the Utaware clubs are dead as well, I thought I'll just make one myself and hopefully meet new Utawarerumono fans that way. : )

Speaking of~ We also have a Discord server (a small one, but a server regardless), if you're interested on joining us there!

Anyways, nice to meet you again!

Yea, I was planning on watching it actually after I finish Avatar. Some mal friends of mine convinced me to lmao. Said it's a banger so, got me interested and put it on plan to watch. I don't usually watch seasonals but this might be an exception.
Gexis Nov 21, 2021 7:57 PM
No, my bad I meant the original 1979*** "Mobile Suit Gundam" was the one I watched a bit of, not 1997. All though Gundam Wing looks exciting I might just jump into that some time.
Gexis Nov 19, 2021 3:31 PM
I see.

I do want to check out the GX anime at some point, but there's no shot I finish the show considering almost 200 episodes.

I'd like to know about your Mobile Suit Gundam conquest. I see you've watched a lot of the series including the old stuff. How has that been? Did you start watching in chronological order? I started watching the OG (1997) anime a while ago, I got to around episode 25 but then just kinda stopped. I'd like to eventually watch everything Gundam but that first season is pretty hard to get through. I was thinking of maybe just jumping to Gundam Wing or something more exciting, but I feel it's necessary to watch the older stuff. Do you think it's fine to just jump into a newer series or is that blasphemy?
Gexis Nov 16, 2021 12:33 PM
Yuh, I at least want to watch all of "Battle City Arc" which goes to episode 144 I believe. Not sure if I'll watch everything after but well see. I will eventually read everything there is in the manga tho.

The manga recently returned from a sudden hiatus though, but yeah, patiently waiting for the third season!
