Here's the scale of my ratings:
10 - It is perfect. No boring episodes. Grow attached to the characters. Impressive plot development. Rich in content. Has its own identity; one of a kind. Stamped in my mind. I dedicate only a few Anime for this.
9 - There's a little something that prevents it from getting the title of "Masterpiece". However, it is insanely addicting, mostly with an impressive plot. Can suffers from a few annoying cliches, few moments where the development is slow, "over the board moments". However, whatever it wants to do, it does perfectly. 9 is still hard to reach in my book, it has to punch me hard enough.
8 - The plot/story isn't as "refined" but it still surprising. Without a deep character evolution, episodic slice of life might have a hard time going higher than this. It usually gets this rating with how well it delivers the story and how enjoyable it is. Still, we can see that it does things better than similar shows.
7 - The plot/story was less appreciated than a 8. It can be filled with cliches, and have a slow development. Can be boring from time to time. Even with these flaws, I still liked and enjoyed it in the end. You can also see this number as a "Safety Margin", a "In between" the 6 and 8.
6 - Partially liked it. Have its moments. Found it boring at times, maybe because it's too long, because of fillers, or because I didn't liked the diegesis that much. Even filled with parts I didn't like, I can't affirm that it was "bad" in its entirety, and felt that it could have done better.
5 - I don't know yet lemme think about it. For now a "In between" the "Bad" from the "Good". Maybe in the future, I might transpose some 6 into 5 and some 7 into 6.
4 and below - Boring, Painful to watch, Stupid
It really has to reach a certain point of stupidity/boringness to reach this point
===================================
Roughly,
Those statements aren't absolute.
I rate Anime on its whole. Much with an overall feeling. For example, I don't blame it all on its bad ending (It will have its share but I will also judge what comes before). Here are the things I give most credits to: the plot and its development (story wise), how the plot is brought to us (fluidity, does it include fillers?, is it sometimes too slow/boring?, are some parts plainly useless/stupid?, the art is off?, etc.), the characters (do they all have their own personality?, are they bland? Do I like them?).
Usually, I use comparisons to rate them.
If an Anime is CLEARLY better than another, it will have a better score for sure. You can see it like: "This Anime has something the other hasn't" (or the other way around). If they both have the same score, it's because I can't tell if one is really better than another. I could say which one I do prefer but its not by a lot. It could also because I just don't want to compare them because of their different style, for example.
I try to spread them as much as I can to the whole scaling (1 to 10). The more Anime on its way, the more experience I will have to rate.

Well I watched some of the Hunter x Hunter's ( The original not the remake ) episodes back when I was young but I don't even remember the story anymore but I am planning on watching Hunter x Hunter (2011) soon :D
Well it was okay it's true that some people didn't liked it because it was really kinda bad though I like the Animation and the Character designs and the Songs too but I gave it a 9 because I rate my Anime based on my enjoyment so that's why I rated it 9 because I enjoyed it and I don't use 1-4 because that's so low ^_^
No problem :D and Thanks ^_^
Shakugan no Shana is good and what you're speeding up the playback to 1.5x how does that look?
So far I still haven't seen an anime that blew my mind but I would recommend Shakugan no Shana It's pretty good and I don't know what genres you prefer but that'll do the trick.
Sorry for the late reply my internet gave up on me.
