Don't worry, I liked this anime but I'm more than aware of its flaws, I'm about something else here.
First you wrote a review claiming you never find out why characters behave the way they do. And that's in season 1, although you get that cleared up between seasons 2 and 3. Like I would say, why isn't the plot resolved in season 1?
Second, I actually agree with some points in your review that I also found problematic about the series. But your review doesn't sound like "I didn't think he was funny" but that you were just harping on "The characters aren't comprehensible" this was your overall criticism.
I can understand why you don't like it, as you say humor is completely subjective. However, your review sounds like you were expecting way more than you should in a RomCom.
Read your Love is War review and congratulations. You criticize a comedy for being over the top, nonsensical and pointless. And that is exactly the premise for it.
In short, you were looking for the meaning behind this absurd comedy and are disappointed because you didn't find it.
Love is War is a deliberately over-the-top satirical comedy that takes the clichés of romance and youth and makes fun of them by creating the silliest scenarios imaginable.
