Greetings and welcome!
I love anime and am an aspiring writer, so naturally I enjoy critiquing and learning about story-telling.
I am rather selective in what I review, mainly to avoid repeating points people have made already, and so I can delve into more specific topics I find interesting.
When rating something I ask myself how much I personally like it, but also if the show accomplishes what it sets out to do.
Come again and don't be shy to chat!
My rating system:
10 - Nothing is perfect, so this is for something that I felt was made for me.
9 - Great with nigh perfect execution.
8 - Good, AND it goes beyond expectations.
7 - Good, but doesn't go beyond expectations.
6 - Fun, light-hearted, no need to take it too seriously.
5 - Every good thing is balanced out by a bad thing.
4 - Lost potential or a mildly entertaining train-wreck.
3 - The boring kind of bad.
2 - The annoying kind of bad.
1 - Straight up offensive crap or propaganda.

I agree with he mis mash of a lot of plot elements.
Side characters not being developed.
Or the fact that the bahumut wasnt seen or show until later in the show.
However, if you ask me, this anime was a devent watch and I think people love it because of the characters and comedy and not necessarily the story.
With movies I tend to rely on scores, because synopses don't do any good at all, and I've been disappointed that way too often. I know scores can be misleading though.
Yasujiro's cinematography is plain awesome. He's a must-watch for sure if you're passionate about cinema in general.
What a coincidence, a few days ago I watched my first Sion Sono film Antiporno. Very weird (yet awesome) movie, have you watched it? Premise is pretty simple and straightforward enough I suppose but I can't wrap my head around it's surrealistic structure. Maybe this vague explanation should be left as is and I shouldn't look too much into their surrealist aspects. I'm really excited to start Love Exposure soon. As for Takashi Mike I haven't heard of him before.
Thanks for the recs, Survive Style 5 sounds interesting.
A director I explored recently is Akihiko Shiota, I watched Gekkou no Sasayaki (the inspiration of Aku no Hana by Shuzo Oshimi) and Wet Woman in the Wind (a mistake...) seems like he specializes in rather exotic romances. His Harmful Insect was deemed a "near-masterpiece" though, also looking forward to watching this.
I've been meaning to watch Uchouten Kazoku for a while.
Hmm I've been trying to get into Japanese cinema for a while now, am watching some Yasujiro Ozu movie.
Is writing one of your pastimes? I love writing but I seldom do- inspiration strikes at the most random of times. I'm not quite confident enough in myself to write a full-fledged story, so occasionally I do a bit of poetry or write about my day. I wrote a poem a few weeks ago about insomnia because I couldn't sleep at 3 AM on a school day...
Are you reading or watching anything interesting of late? Doesn't need to necessarily be animanga, I'm quite fond of novels and cinema as well :D
you need something easy like a simple restaurant 5 star scale or just a "yes/no"
clearly you do not know how to use it correctly.
Chizuru probably would get around 3 stars on its own, rest is excruciatingly boring & disappointment
Honda Chizuru is by far the stand out.
