One of the harshest realities we face on this earth is that stories come to an end, even though the worlds in which stories live go on forever.
I have few suggestions that could rival such an epic. Indeed there might only be one anime you haven't seen that I could guarantee to be as wonderful, and that would be Steins; Gate. I doubt there is any anime more worthy of universal praise than it.
However, Key made more than just Clannad, and Kanon (2006) is almost as good.
Honey and Clover will give you hope for the human race.
Maison Ikkoku, if you can ever make it through all of it, will permanently increase the warmth in your heart.
I wish you the best in your travels through the endless beauty of human imagination,
An eternal wanderer
P.S. Finish Mushishi already, it's a masterpiece of art.
I would also recommend dropping Lovely Complex and Paradise Kiss. The former upset me so much I wanted to punch whoever made it in the face. I've heard of unrequited love and dumb male characters before, but the main guy in that one is so ignorant of his situation that it borders on straight up cruelty. I was not amused.
Paradise Kiss was also quite a let down. I believe it's from the same author as Nana, which is one of my all time favorites. It's interesting in the "let's look at the lives of super artsy students" but it's short and there really isn't a whole lot there besides the cool art style.
But I would say to stick with Kimi Ni Todoke because it's really cute and adorable.
Yeah After Story is *way* better. There are few animes that almost made me cry, and that was one of them. It's so touching. I actually liked Kanon better (it's by the same people, the 2006 version), but After Story feels the most mature.
As for rewatching priority, Spice and Wolf always takes top spot. I also love rewatching Toradora! and Ef: A Tale of Memories/Melodies (although I'd rather replay through the visual novel). I also really like Honey and Clover so I'd give that a rewatch.
There are actually very few that I'd really want to rewatch - I mostly just jump onto whatever is next, looking for another touching story. I *really* loved Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, but it was *super* short the first time, so I can only imagine being disappointed rewatching it.
I'm sure the more shounen/fighting ones would be fun to rewatch, like Rurouni Kenshin or Code Geass. But I might watch After Story again before them.
Yay!~ You finished Clannad. What did you think of it? I have been thinking about rewatching it, but there are betters series for rewatching that would take priority. I *really* loved the second season - After Story - though.
Dude, Welcome to the NHK will *not* disappoint. I just watched it last weekend in one sitting, it was so good. I think it's just nice to have something that feels around the same age as I am. I felt it got better a little after the start, too.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to make those suggestions, I'll be sure to check them out. I've heard of Evangelion, but was told it's very confusing and hard to get your head around. The rest I haven't heard of... ..So THANKS! ^.^
