Yes I did appropriate my name from that David Bowie song, so any ground control jokes will (probably) be understood, and you are correct, the name suggests that I do have an interest in most things military. I'm a bit of an equipment nerd, so it's not unusual for me to be watching a movie and go 'hey! that's 'such and such' a rifle!', and if it's a period piece, usually followed up by 'and they're supposed to be equipped with....'.

I have been a fan of animated media for a long time, it's probably my longest lasting hobby. I have always liked animation, I still enjoy many of the cartoons I watched as a kid as well as the more *cough*mature*cough* things I watch today. As for anime itself, I have been a fan for a long time. Astroboy is one of the earliest shows I can remember watching, and the veritech fighters in Robotech were the coolest thing ever (and frankly, they still are). I suppose I really got into the anime side of things about 4 or 5 years ago when I was collecting the RoboTech boxes, and came across all this other really cool looking stuff like Cowboy Bebop.

I have a wide variety in tastes, from gut busting action to calm and composed slice of lifers. I'll give most anything a chance (though I'll generally give stuff labelled as Hentai a pass, that stuff doesn't really entertain me). As for the scores I give, I try to be as impartial and unfanboyish as possible, but I'm not perfect.

As for manga, my interest in that started mainly from comments like 'the manga was better'. If memory serves me correct, Love Hina was the first Manga serial I began to purchase, and the collection began from there.

Just to mention that the favourite 5 anime/manga are in no particular order. I generally find it hard to make top 10 lists, because sometimes the shows I have to choose from are so different they are difficult to compare. I just chose the highest rating anime from my list, and the manga serials I am particularly enjoying at the moment to comprise my list.....
