Hi.. My name is Kevin. I usually watch Anime when i'm really bored. Plus, I find it much easier to watch a 20 minute episode online rather than renting a 1hour+ movie and ending up getting bored in the middle of it. My favorite genre of shows are mystery, horror, action, comedy and romance. I love, love, love a story with a good plot twist or anything that keeps me thinking as well as stories with well developed main characters. I'll watch anything that's interesting from TV shows such as Veronica Mars and House to anime such as Ghost Hunt and Boogiepop Phantom to Korean and Japanese dramas such as Oldboy, birth of the rich and Liar Game. If you have any suggestions for me, give me a shout! i'll most likely check them out even if they're not an anime series. I like to meet new people too so if you share the same interests as i do, leave a message.

I would like to point out a detail though. When did the show pretended to be something else than a romantic comedy, full of far fetched incidents, unrealistic situations and characters? If you were looking something similar to Wandering Son you were definitely barking up the wrong tree. SIH is not a serious_business series and it should not be treated as such. Of course there are not depicted "real" gay people in there just like there aren't any real women or str8 men in 99% of the shoujo/romance/ecchi anime. It wants to provide 25 minutes of pure mindless fun.
Excuse the sudden message but after all the not_so_friendly towards the series or the fandom messages that i read I really felt the need to point out a different aspect.
(And yes! Hourou Musuko! That anime needs more attention/love) :)
hmm actually ritsu and takano not have sex in first day..
if you read the manga there's chapter takano masamune no baai
when takano and ritsu in highschool.firstly takano just joke around about ritsu feeling.but ritsu kindly, honestly make takano realize that he love ritsu.sometime later takano invited ritsu to his house.
just want to make it clear.i love yaoi but i hate gay in person
sorry i can't speak english..
1) older BL works tend to be much better, storyline-wise. i think that was because yaoi wasn't so mainstream back then and mangakas had to do something to reel the readers in....i wonder if that makes sense haha.
2) ive watched...about 4 BL movies all in different languages. i was sad to see that the japanese one was the worst. the other ones were korean, chinese and i think thai...not sure. the japanese one had not only terrible acting but a very VERY poor, unrealistic...and ridiculous storyline. i believe the other 3 were much better because BL entertainment is rarer in that culture. therefore there is...idk how to say it...more importance in portraying the depth of gay love.
so yea...i mean i love yaoi though..the ones w/ good storylines. i can seriously spend forever ranting about how much i hate and love it lol.
Good Animes.. Depends on what you like.
But here goes
Seems you gave Howl's Moving Castle a 10., Which is totally right. It's an awesome movie. Miyazaki is a genius and these following are his wroks aswell. You prob have seen these but check out
*Spirited Away (It's like the most famous anime movie in the world)
*Princess Mononoke (I totally love this, lost count how many times ive seen it)
*Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (This is a really old one and very good)
Some Rom/Com,
*Kaichou wa Maid-sama, (Love this one aswell, also lost count how many times i've seen this series :P)
*Clannad (and MUST see Clannad After Story thats the sequal :) )(The Movie you don't haft to see, its just parts from the Series with a diffrent male actor for the MainGuy in the story. Sucks. And yea, i almost cried at the end haha)
*Zero no Tsukaima (epic, its good com/rom with magic and great story :D)
*Seto no Hanayome, (The funniest ever! Laughted my ass off..)
*To LOVE-Ru, (if you fancy a little innocent ecchi ;D Its mild promise, and very funny. It has a sequal)
*Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, (This is a masterpiece, its very original and super funny. Also second season ongoing right now :D)
*Chobits, (A very heartfilled story. Its good :))
*Arakawa Under the Bridge, (Very original with thats VERY funny and a werid Romance going on, good slice of life in combo with the Rom/Com and all "supporting" char are more like main. Character rating on this is 10. Very good, it also have sequal)
Since Rom/com is my focus thats those. I got a lot more but these are the ones i would recommend to someone who is not an Rom/Com Otaku like me :)
But I watch a lot of other series as well. Here are those recommendations :D
*Death Note (This is a MASTERPIECE and so great story, blows your mind and is such a great series. I even have a kind of Cosplay item. The Death Note itself :))
*K-ON!, (This is a very good slice of life combined with music. Might sound bad, but it's very enjoyable. Sequal here :))
*Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, (If you love the comedy on this, you are golden. It has a bunch of sequals. But if you are like me and don't find the comedy that funny, you prob feel like me that its a waste of time.)
A bunch of new released series from May April this year that are very interesting :D
*Hanusaku Iroha (I love the main character here. Such good heart. Its a slice of life with drama and a little comedy. I don't know what it will turn in to, but i heard from someone who read the manga, that it just gets better ^^)
*C The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, (It has a deep message if you understand it. Its pretty clear in the opening. But series goes more in a fight lookin way. Its action and such. Great story many characters and looks promising)
*Deadman Wonderland (This one is in your face with blood. Story so far is great and very intresting. I'm just beggin for more episodes :D)
*Hidan no Aria (Seen Shakugan no Shana? Seems you have. Its a totally different story but the main characters are similar. I find it very good and watching it)
*Steins;Gate (Very intresting, bunch of guys kinda playing scientists making inventions and they invent a thing so they can travel in time. Its a Comedy with a serious Story. Very good and really want more episodes)
*Ao no Exorcist (A guys Kid seems to be the son of Satan, it has very intresting story and its well thought through how stuff works and the Main guy, satans kid is awesome lol.)
*Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (A very loving story slice of life, romance comedy drama. Its very interesting and i wonder what will happen.
So yea, if you really want to start watching more anime again after your big break. Here you have it. I recommend you watch all of them. They are all great. with ratings 8-9
and I have seen several Ecchi, mostly you know mild ecchi thats funny. But I've seen the weridest Ecchi with a good story, and thats Seikon no Qwaser. This is no joke. ALOT of echhi, its rated r+ lol. But i loved it since i'm very weird guy ^^
And if its i must say.. If its censored, screw it :P I hate censor!
what kind of great series? :D
I'm very into Comedy Romance, my all-time fav is Kaichou wa Maid-sama, it's just superb. If you want some recommendations I'll tell you..
Read a little on your Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi review.
I like the comedy, but I'm straight with no bad feelings for gay people, but it's weird seeing gay stuff in front of my face..
makes me wonder what you think of Junjou Romantica?
i really enjoyed your review of "Sekaiichi Hatsukoi"
sounds like my kind of rants. its too bad i didn't read it before i pressed "plan to watch"
personally, i really love yaoi and the idea of homosexual love. however, the way gay love is portrayed in MANY mangas/animes...is ridiculously shallow and stupid. so yea. i basically loved what you had to say in your reviews =]
I do have one tiiiiny problem with your review though, seeing as you've inadvertedly called Hourou Musuko yaoi. Unless we've been reading/watching something totally different, I have yet to come across any writhing, sweaty men porking each other in that series, lol.
Apart from that, as I've already said, nice review!
So many yaoi fangirls announce that "If you don't like yaoi, then you're a homophobe." I don't like yaoi, but it's because 1) They generally have an incredibly shallow, unrealistic story, and 2) Their sole purpose is to be girl-porn. Some fans do acknowledge it as porn and admit that's why they read/watch it, but others seem to think the stories and characters are actually well-crafted.
Anyway, I agreed with the review!
