You have found the holy grail of MAL profiles may the goddess of isekai bless your pure soul.
The motto everybody should take to their hearts:
“For a pregnant woman to give birth, she’s gotta feel the pain of pulling a watermelon out of her nostril. For a viewer to create a truly based opinion, he’s gotta feel the pain of pulling entire galaxies out of his ass.”
– Gintoki Sakata (slightly modified) –
What other people think of me:
"This man provides the most based opinion and taste in anime the world and heavens above will ever graciously see"
– Riannu Keeves –
"Whenever I check my ratings I make sure to read his list so I don't grade something based on my own trash taste"
– Hodd Toward –
"Man's a fucking connoisseur when it comes to media"
– Nabe Gewell –
"I should have taken his adwise before making Death Stranding"

I am honored to present that my exquisite taste has been awarded with 3 Michelin stars
So well yes, I am in fact (probably) superior to you
Remember the Name
This is ten percent opinion, twenty percent satire.
Fifteen percent experience from watching all kinds of shit.
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent based taste.
And a hundred percent reason to check out my list.
Basic explanation of my rating/scoring system:
Story:
- 10 - Intriguing, original, fascinating, thrilling plots. Every element or arc is executed masterful. No plot holes, everything is comprehensible and nice to follow. World building and setting are on point, immersive and captivating. Unpredictable or logically predictable story line.
- 9 - Throughout solid plot. Arcs and elements are well-used and executed. No plot holes, Comprehensible explanations. Well-structured world and a fitting setting. Entices to keep on watching. Good plot twists may occur.
- 7-8 - Overall a good plot. A nice basis for the rest of the anime. Arcs and elements may vary in quality and execution. Minor plot holes may occur, but they are not a big deal. The world and setting measures up to expectation but is nothing overly special. Maybe quite generic but still fun to follow.
- 5-6 - Maybe not original but yet decently written. Basic plot points. Although there are plot holes other elements balance them out. The world and world building is just ok. Maybe not very exciting but not frustrating either. Rather predictable due to its generic nature.
- 4 - Barely enough to not be overly irritating. Everything from point 5-6 is executed to a worse extent.
- 2-3 - Not much of a plot at all. Every Element is executed half-assed. The story is boring.
- 0-1 - What's even worse than no plot. A plot that is just plain stupid. Story elements make no sense at all. There's very little to no explanation. The world is literally a dumpster. It's not just boring it's frustrating to watch and follow.
Characters:
- 10 - Multi-facetted personalities. Original and relatable characters. Main and, to a certain extent, the side cast expresses exceptionally good development. The side cast provides perfect support for the main Cast. Actions and behavior are deeply based upon their traits and feelings. Wonderful expression of emotions. Everybody serves a purpose in the big picture.
- 9 - Fleshed out personalities. Every character is well written. Understandable and logical development. A solid supporting side cast. Characters are driven by their traits and feelings and emotions.
- 7-8 - Decent characters with a solid personality. Good development at least for the main cast. Everybody is equipped with reasonable traits that determine their actions and behavior. Side cast can vary in quality.
- 5-6 - Very basic characters which lack development through the ongoing of the series. They still have functioning and reasonable traits. Actions and behavior can't always be traced back upon reason and feelings. Side cast is there however they serve no great purpose in combination with the main cast.
- 4 - Just the cutting edge between point 5-6 and 2-3. Something of both may apply.
- 2-3 - Bland and replaceable characters. No special traits to find in the main and side cast. Acting and behavior is rather random and rarely based upon their already lacking personality. No development at all or development in an absurd, unreasonable or stupid direction.
- 0-1 - They are not only bland and replaceable, but they also make no sense in the context of the show. Their actions and behavior is contradictory to what is expected from them. They have no major/leading trades whatsoever. A side cast basically doesn't exist. No development at all or development in an absurd, unreasonable or stupid direction.
Animation:
- 10 - Exceptional Art: Gorgeous backgrounds, delicate character design, flowing movement, insane visual effects. Creating an immersive and apt atmosphere using suiting colors and lighting. Impactful easy to follow direction with sensational scenes and a meaning behind it. Thrilling action scenes. Outstanding visualization of emotion. Not all of the above-mentioned criteria have to be met for an anime to achieve a score of 10, its more likely that a show is outstanding in 2-3 aspects which grants it a 10 or close to a 10 depending on its genre. Every other criteria has to be flawless
- 9 - At least one of the above-mentioned criteria is outstanding. Other aspects connected to its genre have to be flawless. Everything else needs to be at least satisfying
- 7-8 - The anime overall is a nice to watch. The animation at least meets the anime corresponding demand and expectation. For example a Thriller is decent in creating an immersive and thrilling atmosphere while also having a basic meaningful direction. An action Shounen on the other hand has good action scenes and decently executed visual effects.
- 5-6 - The anime has some flaws in its genre dependent criteria. Its overall not exceptionally appealing to watch, but the animation as a whole should not be bothering.
- 3-4 - Heavy flaws in genre dependent criteria to the extent that it's negatively affecting other elements such as story or characters
- < 3 - I have never given animation below 3 as far as I know. I guess everything must actually be dog shit to score lower than that. Oh wait, there's actually one thing I scored < 3: Fate: Stay/Night from Studio Deen so take that as an example if I ever score < 3 again.
Sound:
While sound can sure be used as an objective scoring criteria it really is subjective to a high extent at least regarding music. So for this one I will not categorize from 10 to 0. I rather mention what aspects of sound I value and what I expect from a 10/10 in Sound.
Divers themes with varying use of instruments. The music supports the other elements (Story, Characters, Animation) and amplifies them perfectly. It's also possible that a soundtrack is so exceptionally good it doesn't need to be very divers (i.e. FLCL). The music has to capture the overall atmosphere as well as feelings and emotions of the characters. I mean everybody can tell for themselves if they hear a soundtrack they like or not and how much they like it. When it comes to action anime I also highly value sound effects. They have to provide that... kick you know. When I see great battles or otherwise intensely SFX demanding scenery it should be accompanied by stunning and impactful effects else there's something missing.
Opening and ending themes are usually not taken into consideration when scoring sound.
Enjoyment:
Purely subjective. This is plainly based on my preferences and experience with a show as a whole. Usually reflects the other scoring criteria but can also deviate into a more positive rating when I like a show despite omnipotent flaws.
Pluses (+)
I use them if I want to mark certain things that are absolutly astonishing and to ad another layer of comparability.
