Haha, thank you so much! (Herzlichen Dank!) I really appreciate that. Honestly, I feel like I ramble way too much sometimes, so hearing that means a lot!
ahh, Appreciate it! Seems like we’ve got some serious alignment here—affinity bar maxed out! XD
Glad to see that you enjoyed my recommendation and also thank you for writing me a message, it genuinely means a lot to me. Sorry for recommending something from your plan to watch but this just wasn't my area of expertise ๐ , Bokurano is good enough but idk if it will be great enough to hook you up. I would advise you to give it a shot till first 5-6 episodes to get a general gist of the show and then decide if ya wanna continue or drop it.
Also your list is really good as it conveyed your taste to me very precisely. You have a great taste too bud!
Glad to hear you enjoyed them both for what they are. Yeah I'm glad the elves matched us up dude! Fellow Kengan Enjoyer!
So about Homunculus... it's pretty fucking insane tbh? I don't really know how to approach it without spoiling much for you. But answering the question "Is it worth it?". Dude yeah, for sure yeah. There's tons of interesting and crazy ideas with an underlying philosophy that many won't agree with but it's nonetheless an interesting one. The moment I started reading I got hooked pretty much, I think I spent a whole day just reading the manga non-stop. It's a manga that's best experienced when you don't know anything about it though, so I'll just let you come to your own conclusions when you decide to read it. But in my opinion 100% worth a read.
Something that's a must read is The Climber though, that manga is a uhh... quite literally a masterpiece in my eyes. And yes, I won't tell you anything about it, don't look up any images of the manga, don't look up anything about it just read it. I'm thankful I never went to check anything about it, because what it ended up becoming was just incredible.
Yeah I'm not sure when that aspect got lost but for some reason not a lot of people are aware of the fact that Gundam is a highly political and serious show for the most part. I think LOGH kinda got that rep for being the political Space Opera but Gundam did just that before and imo even better. The franchise can definitely seem pretty daunting but it's probably way simpler than you think. You just watch 0079, Zeta, ZZ which are just 3 normal seasons and as an epilogue to the trilogy there is the movie Char's Counterattack. After that you can pretty much watch whatever you want, it's not as complicated as people make it out to be.
Homunculus is a special one. Don't really want to talk about the story because going in completely blind is the best idea but it's a very unique twisted psychological drama. Your favorites tend to be quite character-driven stories and Homunculus is one that really gets how to completely rip apart and analyze those characters. I think you would enjoy it, you also gave Freesia an 8 which is probably the closest thing on your list to it.
Aww thank you so much! That's so nice to hear.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the recommends, I was a bit worried because both are part of a larger franchise and sometimes people won't even dare to start with not the first one.
Yes, War in the pocket is definitely something special. They really nailed the perspective from an innocent kid, making all of it seem darker than it already is. Can definitely recommend checking out other Gundam seasons. I haven't seen too much but my favorite has been the 79 one so far, it's full of thought-provoking themes.
You'll then most likely also enjoy Patlabor a lot. I think it's even better and the 2nd movie is completely on another level compared with most movies. Sadly for most people even more relevant today than it was then. Really a masterpiece in commentary on war, politics and peace.
