Wtf your Umineko no Naku Koro ni is way too high for what it was worth. If you actually enjoyed the serie you might want to read the manga. It's absolutely better then the anime
@LordTeapot: The art of Evangelion took influences from Salvador Dali's paintings, in particular Dali's scale perspectives and color schemes. For example, the scene where Unit 03 was strangling Unit 01 in outstretched arms explicitly references Dali's "Rock and Roll".
Like Dali himself, I'm weary of people making judgments out of Platonic categories. It is sufficient that a label -- like "Surrealism" -- remains a convenient word that immediately calls its associated members; a label is never a definition of a member.
The modern approach in dealing with Platonic categories like "Surrealism" is provided by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky in "Judgment under uncertainty: Heuristics and biases": If you "feel" like it, then it probably is.
In a way, the intentions of Surrealism inevitably intersects that of Deconstruction: both movements aim to make us aware of aspects of our reality we have become too comfortable to notice. As such, both require a thesis to make an antithesis of. In the case of Surrealist paintings, what makes the paintings "surreal" is the "reality" outside of the frame as contrasted to the "super-reality" inside the frame.
One might the consistent fictional universe of the realistically animated Evangelion universe as the "outside reality", while whatever drastic violation/subversion of that reality, like showing a different style/presentation in the last 2 episodes, becomes the "super-reality (surreality)".
I know its only my opinion but I think the first series is better, you may disagree but I think the plot drags on too long, also I actualy think the homunculus is a lot less macabre in brotherhood. Also im one of those people who thinks greed was better off dead hte first time, I know brotherhood is closer to the manga, but to me Greed's death and Ed's reaction to it, in the first anime, was what made me realy lime the anime. Brotherhood and I daresay the manga is far more... shonen? I dont mean that in a negative way but I dislike Ed far more as a character, also Scar's character is completely ruined in my opinion, and is much less of an anti-hero the whole way through.
lmfao at your fma brotherhood review, sad imo the first fma is great but its 1/10 of brotherhood its much straighter of a story and only a fool would think otherwise
