No problem as i said you can find it boring but it is subjective. Real Criticism needs real proof of flaws which Re:Zero doesn't have any. I didn't found any flaws of Re:Zero in your review. Because you are thinking unsolved mystery as flaw in literally mystery series.
Also many people recognized greatness of Re:Zero after watching Season 2.
"It often felt very repetitive. I guess this is to be expected from a series about time travel, but when we experience basically the same events many times it gets boring quickly. Even if we always learn something every alternate timeline and never the exact things happen twice the plot still moves forward at a snail's pace."
Nothing is repetitive. Every death shows you character's different sides and possible outcomes but most importantly Subaru learns critical information. It is "boring" not a criticism because majority will find it very enjoyable so as me.
"And even though the possibility of him dying is supposed to always be there (because he actually does die sometimes), it’s still never unexpected when he does. He never dies when he has made major plot progression, manages to execute a well thought out plan or after achieving a difficult feat. It's only when him dying results in no major loss of work on his part that the show will actually let him die."
This is actually wrong. After last petelguese finger got killed by Emilia, Petelguese possesed Subaru. If he wasn't possessed subaru it would be Subaru's victory. So your criticism is easily debunked there is also other scenarios. Like Alternative Stories which shows where story going after Subaru's different answer to situtations. IF Stories. Author could cut there and say hey its subaru victory but he didn't because Petelguese have backstory and we know he is a spirit and can possess people. Subaru doesn't have contract with any spirit and he is have affinity with Spirits make him easy to possess. Without taking this route it could have create a plot hole but im sorry re:zero is a masterpiece with no plot holes.
"Most series that don't take place in our world often need to spend time exploring it for the audience to feel invested and interested. This series however only uses the world as a backdrop for the characters. Although I somewhat like the characters I can’t help but feel that the world is thoroughly underdeveloped. For example most of the characters we see in the foreground are humans but I would have loved to learn more about the other races that always show up in the background."
This explained better in future seasons. Season 1 introduce you kingdoms concept, witch cult and royal election. Next seasons even take it further. I can't take this a criticism because this is just a prologue and you want every answer from a prologue.
"There are also a lot of characters in this series worth exploring more. We see the world from Subarus' perspective and it’s mostly him on screen all the time. This is sad because we have so many other characters, say Roswaal for example, that would be interesting to learn more about."
Every character explored in depth in Season 2. This is last series you can say this because Re:Zero is amazing on developing characters. Literally every character have backstory or something in this series even thugs from first episode have part in the story in later.
"Subaru has the personality of all other isekai protagonists being confident and charismatic. Although he is very different in the sense that he isn’t very competent. But him being weak is fine since he’s always revived every time he dies. The entire show up to this point is basically him messing something up, dying, reviving and trying again, until he succeeds. Talk about being repetitive. And “Your smile” is not enough of an explanation for the obsession he has with Emilia and the insane length he goes through to satisfy here."
I already explained nothing is repetitive. Subaru is otaku teenager who develops to real true hero of the story. In Season 1 he defeated his sins and progressed forward.
"There are also very few questions answered. We don't know how or why he specifically was transported to this world. We don’t know how it relates to our world. We don’t know why he has his ability. We don’t know when he will be resurrected."
His transportation is made by Satella for plot twist reasons will be revealed in final arcs. His ability further more explained in Season 2.
"Continuing with the theme of things being unexplained, I can say that we also don’t really have an overarching plot. There is mainly some trouble that he reacts to and solves after a few attempts. Although we kind of understand his situation we truly can’t comprehend his place in this universe. To us it seems that his struggle is the utmost important thing happening. Maybe because it is, maybe because we don’t know enough of the rest of the world."
Nothing is happening randomly and the plot is actually have evil mastermind behind it will be more explained in Season 2.
"To sum up I feel that this show has potential and that it goes wide but never that deep. It has many possibly interesting characters and possibly a thorough thought out and interesting world. I can only hope that this series just scratches the surface of what this universe has to offer. But this season alone isn’t quite enough to convince me that it’s good."
I mean show already goes deep with its subtext in Season 1 but it will really get in depth in future seasons. You are right all characters are interesting and they are really-written same as world. But with only watching 25 Episode of 200 Episode series is you can't understand it.
So in my conclusion, your review on Re:Zero is bad because you don't know full story behind it. Season 1 even make more sense with amazing foreshadowing, details after watching future seasons and returning back to it. That's only way to understand this series a masterpiece.
Don't worry everything you pointed out will be explained or it was already explained but you didn't notice.
And about Eren training with Annie, the first season skipped that part but it was shown in the second recap movie, but yeah it was their fault for not showing that scene in the first season, we have seen Eren training with Annie before she even was revealed in the manga, if you want the chapter it's chapter 17 https://manganelo.com/chapter/kxqh9261558062112/chapter_17 .
While i still disagree with most of the things you said about season 2 like the colossal and armored titan's reveal scene being lame, when i think it's the best scene in the whole aot anime.

Yes. Re:Zero Season 1 is masterpiece of a prologue. If you want me to debunk your entire review, you can ask me.
