I don't think I missed the point at all. Looking back, I shouldn't have tackled the shonen power problem with the "rank 300" example because it does get revealed to be fabricated. It was just me trying to keep a review spoiler free whilst trying to give an example from the second half with Rin. But I think if you watched the show just a little further you'll see that they just go through a shooting test only to get given new rankings through a real merit based ranking system. But my point of that paragraph was not necessarily to say the 300 ranking system was bad in itself. But to criticize how newer characters were getting introduced at higher rankings with the most debasing power creep just to maintain artificial hype. Whereas previous characters who I would argue were more interesting would slowly fade out of relevance and become background characters for the success of Isagi.

If I were to write it again I probably would go with the annoying team Z vs X, Y, W, V scheduling to show how each team (W and V specifically) felt like a slightly stronger villain of the week to relay the hype point. Then use Nagi and Rin as an example for a power creep in skills.

Apt review of Domestic no Kanojo. 2/10 is max that this series deserves. Even though I hate this series, I would still recommend you to watch the anime for OP.
