Personally, I think there are enough series that I personally found to be 10* and enjoyed them non-stop, even on the second and third time.
But what I feel ultimately has little to do with the actual quality, but just pure enjoyment. Many of these series had flaws that left me thinking "Did the author just run out of creativity?" and "Why did he use such poor explanations, or none at all?".
In that sense, I don't think there is a perfect 10/10 series. But it's no reason not to give any of them that score. That's why I try to give 10/10 to the best representatives of their genres.
Like for example, best comedy, best shounen, best thriller and so on. And of course, many things can change during the time.
Overall Scores are based on different Point Mechanics, like Writing Style, Development, Concept, Creativity, Dialogues and many other.
Meanwhile Personal Score, means just how much i enjoyed it (while ignoring all the flaws of the show)
There are some like Code Geass, with horrible explanations and LOT of Plot holes. Yet its still one of my favorites and i watched it 4 times by now. Still would score it (overall as a franchise with only 5/10)
Do i know the shows are bad before starting them? Of course not. And sometimes even shows are bad at the beginning and interesting in the end (good example Guilty Crown, which had TRASH first 12 Episodes, but decent 12 after the first half)
So many of those shows end up as average enjoyment.
You see, i don't watch alone but with People. And sometimes you have to try out shows with less hype or less content. And sometimes they end up unexpected entertaining, or dumb enough to make you question the Author. Haha
Baccano was a refreshing mixture between a comedy and a simple thriller, which relied heavily on bizarre personalities.
The reason why Baccano was a very close 7/10 for me and not a 6/10 was the kind of creative storytelling from different timelines and how well they fit together.
The humor was very mature and balanced, the personalities of the characters also very appealing.
The things Baccano failed at, however, were slow pacing and lack of atmosphere, which was completely gone from episode 5 on. The series could still somehow compensate for this with the backgrounds.
Is Baccano Overrated? Yes, it's far from what people praise as a masterpiece. And I may even have to change Baccano to 6/10 later, after knowing more similar comparisons. But to call Baccano bad, there are not enough reasons for that.
What was really bad were the Baccano Ovas, they were garbage.
You see i would almost agree on some negativ e Points of Baccano, but your Score is far to low. Expectly since you rated so many overrated and average shows far higher than Baccano. Not sure if your scores are up to date.
