I have been watching anime since I was in first grade, albeit with frequent hiatuses over the years. The very first anime I've seen—if I remember correctly—was Blue Blink; but it was Rurouni Kenshin that really got me drawn to this particular medium. I'm also a fan of old school anime and series from the World Masterpiece Theater. I'm more into anime than manga as you can see in my stats. Despite what's written in my preferences, I watch anything.
Here's a general idea of how I rate anime (a detailed description can be found in my blog):
10: There can only be one anime that a perfect 10 is given to and it's to the single best anime I have seen so far.
8-9: I reserve this rating for shows that have truly stunned me, moved me, or resonated with me. These are the shows that I can say I liked without shame and some of the best in their respective genres. Highly recommended.
6-7: Anime that are usually highly enjoyable or well-written, just lacking in some elements that made shows in the 8-9 category special. Highly recommended in general.
5: This means the anime is average, passable, or pretty good. Has equal amount of merits and flaws. It's also the initial and default rating for everything—it can only go up or down from here.
3-4: Below average, disappointing, or poorly written series that I may or may not have enjoyed. Generally a chore to watch. Flaws outweigh the merits.
1-2: Completely detestable or worthless with few to no redeemable qualities. Some of the worst anime in existence.
I appreciate your post in my thread. I'm surprised I've never even heard of your favorite anime! Maybe I'll see it someday. What is the image near the top of your profile from? I used to have the limited Rurouni Kenshin box sets that look like this:
How is it so far I remember I dropped after the reinhard and kircheis flashback cause if wasnt gay enough even tho the designs are yuri on ice + space. I
Great BnHA S2 review, and I agree that it feels like a very standard battle shounen outside from the great technical aspects like animation and musical timing
The review I saw of BNHA 2 was good, know that at least 2 thirds of this anime viewership had those cons fly over their heads since they're filled with that Hype juice.
Wonder how "too critical" you are with certain shows?
Your scores are acceptable if we look at it strictly from a literary perspective, and judging by your notes on various titles that's all you're taking into account. Great animation and an impactful OST are worth an entire point or two at the very least
