While I get emotional quite easily, by word, that was the oddest manga I've spilt tears for. Somehow, from the moment he steps on, the tears started streaming. I wonder if it was because of a sense of dread I felt for the guy or a bit of pity and respect for the wife.
No kidding, it's definitely something that will keep coming back to mind. Such a strong inference of 'actions speak louder than words', and in a nuanced, very Japanese way, if I can say that.
It reminds me of two other stories, both live action
1. The movie 'Close-Knit' - Rinko knits something very specific as a way to officialise her transition.
2. The series 'Anata no Koto wa Sore Hodo' - the character Arishima, in a similar bind. (There's a manga too, but couldn't find the translations. I was so overjoyed to learn it got turned to a live action series. Brilliant acting and memorable story.)
Recently added two more reviews on the mangas 'Hibari no Asa' and 'Vitamin'. I hope more people read get to read these stories.
Nice to meet you
