Sounds reasonable. Honestly I did have some issues with shinsekai yori but it did so much so well and had such a great atmosphere that I still felt it deserved a 10. It gave such a strong and painful feeling of loss at several moments that were really powerful for me. My main problem was with death feedback and their complete inability to get around it despite there being numerous easy ways to do so like indirect fire, automated traps, or just straight up sacrificing yourself to kill them.

As for now and then, here and there, it's a special series. A lot of things can motivate you to continue watching a show. Attachment, joy, connection, intrigue, etc. That show however was the only show that kept me motivated to keep watching through sheer rage at the horrible and constant plot holes. It's just baffling to me how so many people hold the show in high regard. It's not my usual MO of finding one big flaw with a show that other people are fine overlooking, it's just constant flaw after flaw with no redeeming qualities. I actually truly just don't understand.

Yes I also got that impression while watching Kill la Kill. Surprised to see you rated it so high despite your criticisms but I guess ratings mean different things for different people.

Haven't watched SSY unfortunately. My anime schedule at the moment is: finish Kare Kano, finish Bokurano, watch Utena and then SSY.
Seems like I won't be watching it anytime soon. :(

and yeah (: ssy is good. idk about claymore though, the pacing and characterization could be a little more well done imo so i think i'll try the manga instead later on. i've read berserk a few years back, but i'll give it a couple more so i can marathon it.
