Hey! My name is Grace. I'm 32 years old, and live in California.
When I was 4 years old, I watched the movie "My Neighbor Totoro" and was enamored with the story, music, and animation. However, I didn't know anything about anime back then or where it originated, until I learned about anime through a friend when I was 9 years old. After that, anime and Japanese culture became a significant part of my life, and still is today.
My hobbies include video games, listening to music, drawing, singing, watching anime, reading manga, and Japanese culture & language.
I enjoy a variety of different genres, but my favorites include: Psychological, Seinen, Drama, Josei. I particularly enjoy coming-of-age stories.
My rating isn't based solely on enjoyment. Instead, I rate based on the quality of different aspects of a series, such as storyline, characters, animation, ect.
I think I'll also add that Missing Beauty came out in TWENTY-FIFTEEN. (2015?!) There is almost no way that is possible. But since Genki Sudo has come back to World Order I keep hoping for more singles. But so far, not much. I'll keep hoping we get some great new singles though.
That's awesome you host something like that. Makes me want to get a group together to do club activities like that but I would never have time lmao.
As for your critiques, complaints, you're not entirely wrong there. I mean you have to be a fan of that style of writing to really get into, like most light novels, but I wouldn't say it was so much more cringe or a ramble than other anime. The relationships are also all over the spectrum with how people feel about them.
For not being developed, though, I would disagree solely based on the conditions of their interactions (from Subaru's side of things) because he's experienced things that no one else has, multiple times, and the relationships will always feel stronger/more developed from his perspective. What's happened over the course of the series has also had a strong mental effect on him, affecting both himself and his interactions with others. But again the relationships are mostly about personal taste.
I guess the only part of the critique I would point out is a bit short sighted is the characterization of Subaru. Yeah he can be super scummy, selfish, which is done on purpose. He becomes cocky, over confident, pompous for a time, but as the story and events takes place his character changes. At times he is very noble, heroic, at other times he is a selfish prick who appears to deserve death. That's part of how he grows, evolves, hits character highs and character lows across the board.
To say he's your least liked character in all of anime, even recently, throws me for a bit of a loop. His character is meant at times to be unlikable and at other times is meant to be redeeming and heroic, positive.
That all being said I understand your perspective there and appreciate the opinion. I just think that despising his character as a whole isn't quite the way to view him, as complaints with him are kind of meant to be complaints and instead show his progression at other times.
I'm hyped you got back to me. Talking anime and manga is top! Glad to hear your opinion since you're into a number of series and styles that are so different from my own views, so it helps to broaden my views a bit. Looking forward to see what anime you guys choose to watch next! :D
Woooooow. That's intense. Near total opposite ends of the spectrum with how we feel about it, haha. Curious what drove you to dislike it so much, though I know some of the critical issues with it I wouldn't think they'd drive it down that low. To each their own, of course, as everyone likes and dislikes things differently.
I'm surprised ya made it through the whole show. Hopefully you enjoyed the music and some of the animation? ~

Yeah Cross Game is a budget anime and fairly standard (rated G) romance, unsure why it gets the hype it does. The mangaka has a style that feels really nice at first glance, but when you read the works they just drag soooo much, and then the anime series drag even more. Just appeals to people who indulge sports or romance works I guess!

But what a song choice!
What's your clan name if I may ask? Mind if I join as guest there?
My total level is 2703 but getting 120 Invention shouldn't be much of a hassle I think
And I was like; -Woah, there's actually someone else other than me on this website who plays runescape?? that's amazing!
Nice total XP btw
