OMG Hey!!! I'm still alive and thriving lol. It's been so long since I've logged on. It's been difficult for me to keep up with my anime watching. I haven't watched in MONTHS now. I want to, but sometimes I get so stressed that I can't. Life has been getting busy for me too. I'm getting old now (not really haha) but definitely adulting. :/
I'm trying to catch up on series that have sequels right now. Some of the ones I want to catch up on are Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season Part 2 and Hataraku Maou-Sama! Season 2. Hataraku Maou-Sama! was such a classic when I was a kid, I was like 100% positive they weren't going to make a 2nd season, but hey like almost 10 years later they do lol. I can't wait that long for sequels to come out. >_<
I've also been into K-pop lately too, so I spend a lot of my time on YouTube watching it. When I have breaks during my day, sometimes it's not long enough for a 20 min episode so I just watch YouTube or shorts. I stream on illegal websites (lol) so sometimes it gets glitchy if I pause the episode and come back to it.
Haha, I totally get what you mean when you feel like the 'geek girl' of the group compared to those popular girls. I used to care more about it when I was younger, but now I've accepted not trying to fit that "image" of what people expect from me. I'm my own thing, people consider me a little "weird" but I've found acceptance at this point.
Do you read a lot of Yuri manga/manhua? I've tried to watch Yuri anime in the past and just couldn't get to it- I'm not all about the s*x scenes in Yuri, but if it came off as a cute shoujo where two girls slowly fall in love with character and dynamic instead of just instantly wanting to do things together because they're both cute, I could give it another try. I also haven't been exposed to a lot of it before either. It is also so hard to find decent BL where it doesn't jump into the smutty scenes right away. I know they are trying to add in a s*x scene within the first 5 chapters to not lose readers but sometimes it doesn't work for me if there's not character development or relationship.
The new Pokemon Legends of Arceus looked really good. It's not a traditional Pokemon game, but rather more open world. Someone I know has compared the play format to an open world like BOTW. I actually love the Pokemon games! I've played them on the Gameboy and DS growing up. Now I have the Switch and have played Shield and most recently BDSP (Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl). I've completed the game a long time ago, but I've been watching a lot of YouTube lately on competitive breeding for monsters so that's what I've been doing lately. :')
I haven't seen Blue Period, but the art looks really pretty!
I actually recently finished rewatching Steins;Gate so I could watch Steins;Gate 0. It's interesting because you are supposed to watch Steins;Gate up through episode 22, then watch an alternative episode 23 OVA, then Steins;Gate 0. After Steins;Gate 0, you finish episodes 23-25 of the original Steins;Gate. It's been so long since I watched Steins;Gate and I remember why I looovvveeeed it. I bonded with the characters throughout the series and even with the additional time loop of Steins;Gate 0, the story played out nicely and all fit in together. Made me cry at some points. ;-;
Sometimes when people have older join dates to MAL they might be more prone to drop MAL, so thanks for worrying. :) I love our conversations we have too. I also enjoy our web-friendship.
Hey, I'm sorry about the late reply. I'm at this point in my life where it's just been hard to find the motivation to get back on here and get into the rhythm of things again. It's also hard to watch anime with my roommates and other people around because I don't really like to let people know I watch anime (except for a select few like you :) ).
I hope you and your cats are doing well! They must be so nice to cuddle with, definitely jealous. So I did finish the 2nd season of Yakusoku no Neverland a while back-- honestly, it was good but not as good as the first season. The first season had that survival/fear vibe whereas the second season introduced the monsters and felt like any other anime. Even though it still kept the survival theme, some elements were unrealistic.
Have we really been talking to each other since 2012??!! >_< :OOO My logs go back to 2014, but that is a heck of a long time. So glad that I still have familiar people to talk to on here, it makes me feel so warm and happy.
I'm not really into Marvel as much. I heard good things about the Loki series, also hear good things about other Disney favorites like Boba Fett that just came out. The only movies/videos/animations I watch are anime. However, since I haven't been watching as much anime lately, I've been spending a lot more time "gaming"-- not like first person fighter games, but I play Zelda BOTW on the Switch, looking back into more open world games. I also have guiltily been reading a lot of Webtoons/Manhua (specifically BL, lord please forgive me I am still pure >_< ). Those scroll Manhua have been up my alley lately so it's kind of my go to. I'm not sick of it yet, but I am waiting for the day when I do get sick of it lol.
Thanks for checking in on me. It has been so long since I have been active. I really do need to make more time for myself and anime. ;-;
No, I haven't seen Dr. Stone yet! I keep seeing it pop up on feeds, but I haven't taken the time to look into it because it seemed like a typical shounen anime. I've also seen clips of it, and the few I have were kinda funny. xP
I just finished Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season and it was amazing. I know it gets a lot of hype, but I really do love the series. Next, I am going to take some time to watch the 2nd season of Yakusoku no Neverland. The first season really captivated me, but I'm looking at the MAL rating and it has a score of 5.63. D: Ima watch that first and then turn to Dr. Stone!
Nice talking to you! I hope everyday is beautiful for you. :)
Hey! I just finished Great Pretender upon your recommendation. First, I never would have watched it on my own, so I'm glad you pushed me to see it. Second, it was AMAZING!! The first few episodes were kinda ehh since I was still getting used to the characters, art, storyline, etc. But, I ended up loving it by the last episode and I want more. :( It was so original and didn't follow the other trope series out there. I loved each arc they held, I loved how they went into everyone's backstory, and I loved seeing how every scam was done behind the scenes. It was such an amazing experience, and I really haven't found a lot of anime these days that hold that many episodes I can enjoy. Thanks :)
Happy New Year! I am doing pretty good, just doing what I usually do. Has the New Year treated you well so far? And congratulations on the new job and new house, I hope things are going the best for you.
I have never heard of Great Pretender. I will definitely watch that next! Recently, I finished Noblesse which comes from a Webtoon adaptation. I read the series about a year and a half ago and never got quite through it, but it was so fun watching the anime adaptation. I believe more Webtoons are going to get adapted into anime or k-dramas (since a lot of them are colorized manhwa/Korean novel), especially after the popularity it has gained over the recent years.
Christmas was good. I got a lot of nice gifts, and I feel very thankful to know the people I do. I can't wait for the warmer months though, I already miss summer days. It is supposed to snow here in the next day or so, so I am still stuck in this Winter Wonderland (I will enjoy the pretty snow while it's here :P).
Hahaha, in Avatar I do have a crush on Zuko too. I love his character arc too, where he goes from someone so focused on one path in his life to realizing his good potential. Also kinda cute and a baddy (like badass), not gonna lie. I always shipped Zuko and Katara when I was younger, but Katara has too many mommy issues it just doesn’t work out.
I’ve seen Golden Time so long ago, but maybe I should give it a chance at a rewatch. (I distinctly remember the openings too ^_^.) I’ve never heard of Net-juu no Susume, but I should give that a try! I could use something light hearted at this time of year, especially when the weather gets chillier and I’m stuck inside more. D:Have you seen Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki kun? It’s a romantic comedy and it made me laugh every episode; I didn’t check your list to see if it was on there but highly recommend if you haven’t seen it.
So, I was looking through your list to see what anime you’ve seen for drama recommendation... you’ve already seen a lot that I like! (AnoHana, Orange, Kiznaiver, etc.) What I think I didn’t see was Violet Evergarden. This one is more popular, and it didn’t make me tear up but it definitely touched my heart strings and moved me. In my opinion, the plot wasn’t too strong but the character growth from machine to human was very moving. :) I’d also recommend Kamisama Hajimemashita. This one isn’t a sad drama, but a cute romance. It’s not related but I like the story and thought I’d throw it out there.
Are there any other anime you would recommend- I am looking do something that has a solid story, beginning and end. Anything would do, I just don’t want cliffhangers or slice of life, I guess.
I'm so glad you liked Dororo. :) I know everyone's tastes are different, but it comfort me to know that someone can also enjoy what I've experienced. ^_^
Hmm, yeah a lot of people in the US mainly use Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Snapchat is used, but has not been as popular lately because it is targeted for a younger audience. TikTok has also been trending for the last year or so in the US, too. I only have Snapchat, because I find other social media platforms to be detrimental to my mental health.
I do like some american cartoons, but the only one being Avatar: The Last Airbender. I have watched it multiple times now, and it's hard for any other series to top that. Do you know of any good anime I can watch? I've been interested in Romantic/Comedy or Shoujo anime lately.
Awesome to know it's still the same old Saphira! ^_^
Quarantine in the US is kinda hectic. I've been keeping up with the news a lot and every day keeps changing. I hate the attitude of most people, but I really like all of this time I get to spend to myself too.
Piano no Mori was a good watch! I liked all of the classical tunes, and it was a simple storyline. I just finished Nami yo Kiitekure, which (I think) is targeted towards an older audience (older characters, more mature setting). As the anime target audience grows older, more series are coming out to keep up in the change of pace. I liked the characters, but it was kind of boring overall (in my opinion).
I don't have any social media, but I do have a Snapchat that I use once in a while for the online base. I'd have to dig around and find it though, it's been a while. DX
