I see. I think adding this to your review would avoid a lot of confusion, if you are permitted to do so, as it basically changes everything.

"it just proves that rating is really good for people like me". I didn't want to be a nitpick but eh screw it. Your statement bothers me because you're treating anime reviews as subjective ratings when, in fact, they are meant to be as objective as possible. Wether you like mainstream content or not, a review should not reflect what you personally enjoyed of the show. Rather, you are measuring it's quality, by analysing things such as story, characters, animation etc. If it only suits a certain type of people, it can only please so many, therefore it loses objective value.

Most of the users on this website are not aware of this, since, well, I guess they just don't take reviews as seriously as I do (which is completely fine!), but this messes with the MAL ratings a lot. Which is why you can't trust it.

Also I don't understand your friend lol. If you saw really good reviews for a new season of Dora the Explorer, would you watch it? Hell no. Unless if that's what you're into, I doubt you actually would, because it's a kid's show. I don't think most people who watch anime (and are therefore seeking something a _little_ more mature) are looking for that kind of entertainment. Yes, you will have a few people here and there that're gonna watch Pingu because they saw good reviews, but whatever. Let them have their little meme adventure. It's pretty hard not to notice that it's all a joke anyway.

Also, please chill out. I doubt someone is going to see it on the top 50 list and think "Ah yes, let me watch Pingu, seems to be a deep and engaging show with a thought-provoking story and brilliant characters". It's fucking Pingu.

Additionally, if you use the MAL rating system as a way of judging what you should and shouldn't watch.. That's just not a good idea man, and it's VERY easy to notice just how biased everyone is when it comes to rating things (on this website, anyway). The MAL ratings are fucking atrocious. You should know this. You've seen 500 anime.

But calling it appalling and giving it a 1 is just as bad, there's so much hypocrisy going on here.
The MAL ratings are fucked and have always been fucked. People give out dumb ratings all the time, no use getting butthurt over it. Just rank it whatever you want but don't act high and mighty about it like you're doing good. The overly bad ratings are just as dumb and immature as the overly high ratings. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got the second episode of Pingu to watch.

Thanks for the Pingu review! People (teenagers/pre teens) love the idea of being in on and contributing to some massive joke/meme. When it's done well, it can be funny. But reviewing a silly show/game and calling it a masterpiece is pretty overdone nowadays. And I also believe it takes away from the site.
