It was almost an 8 at the start, all mysterious and cool, but then it crashed hard into stupid melodrama. The characters went from deep to dumpster fire, and the mystery? Totally ruined; like someone slapped a generic shounen filter over the whole thing.

I really feel that. Watching anime with others can be fun, but when they’re not committed, it’s disappointing.
I guess I can’t say much, since I’ve flaked on people before, so maybe it’s just karma or something.

I used to have this preconceived notion that all Ghibli and Ghibli-adjacent films were terrible. I guess it was because I was trying too hard to be a contrarian when I watched a few of them. Talk about juvenile ignorance!
