I'm reading it now, and there's a very noticeable difference in quality between the manga and the anime. The only reason I'm going to continue reading Clannad is because I have nothing else to read at the moment, although I could start on Hikaru no Go, which looks very interesting, even if it's mainstream shounen.
Speaking of mainstream shounen manga, Bakuman is making a huge impact on my respect for mangaka's work. They're much busier than I originally thought, and to have the dedication to make their manga interesting is admirable. I completely understand why Soul Eater and other manga only whip out a single chapter per month instead of the weekly chapters Shounen Jump pulls out of their asses. I understand cancellations of manga better now too, as well as how anime is actually made.
Who ever said you couldn't learn something from manga? And a mainstream shounen manga too!
Imma go read Hikaru no Go for awhile, but I'll make sure I stay updated on Bakuman, especially since it's reaching the climax of an arc.
Read more manga! Anime is great, but manga is definitely better!
