Hey, wuts gud!
This is. (Updated: August, 17 2024) (Also in anticipation for next season!)
Let me know what you guys are watching! I need recommendations outside my friend group as well!
Manga Pick for the month: DANDADAN
Another round of new age shounen, mixed with absurd comedy, running gags, and greatly depicted action and fighting sequences. It also mixes in a loveable cast of characters fighting against supernatural forces and alien invaders. I cant recommend this enough, probably my highest-rated Manga for the past year! Pick it up now if you haven't yet! (Warning, the first couple chapters have a lot of fan service that might be off-putting to some, however it does tone down drastically as the series moves on)
Additional note: I wanted to add that the anime is coming out soon and I'm wholeheartedly excited to see how good it is. It was recently leaked and I couldn't help but catch a bit of the first episode. in short, 10/10 adaptation. Wait for the full release!
Anime to check out this season (or last season): In no specific order
1. Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan; My Deer Friend Nokotan
An absolute blast to watch. If you haven't already had a taste of what this series has in store, it melds together great over-the-top gag-anime vibes and manages to throw in a heapload of western and Japanese cultural references into the mix. Definitely watch this if you're looking for a cozy fun filled anime and have time.
2. Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi, The Elusive Samurai
A great period adventure series. It boasts amazing animation and storytelling to no one's surprise, as Cloverworks animates it. Definitely should be put on anyone's watchlist if you haven't yet!
3. Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF
A classic recently remade. The studio producing this is doing its previous adaptation justice. A great mix of more mature themes regarding superstitions, puritanical beliefs, and a mix of knowledge related to commerce (The MC is a merchant). Definitely a great anime for those looking for a more fleshed-out plot with great character development and a more adult-oriented story.
Anime Movie Pick for the month: Or not?
1. Ultraman rising
Not exactly an anime movie. I'm gonna be honest, I haven't been watching too many anime movies recently. However Ultraman rising is an undeniable gem utilizing the Ultraman trademark which I feel has fallen off within the last decade. A great introduction to new fans and a love note to old fans, this movie boasts fantastic music, art/animation, and classic over-the-top fight scenes references the old series/movies. It's currently on Netflix (or any pirating site, which I 100% definitely do not condone using nor have I ever used because I am obviously an upstanding citizen...)

Until I found your review of revisions, I thought I was being unjustly biased against the anime since a lot of people seem to like it. You really hit the nail on the head because that anime is pure trash.
