<<Imagination is the only weapon in the war against Reality.>>
Introduction
Greetings fellow weebs! ヾ(^▽^*))) I'm a casual anime watcher from Central Europe (CET) enamored with Japan and Japanese culture- one could call me a Nippon-otaku, a Japan enthusiast.
Apart from TV shows I watched as a child without even knowing what anime is, my first "real" anime was Death Note. However, the first franchise I became a lasting fan of was, you guessed it, Psycho-Pass. o(*≧▽≦)ツ
If you want to know what I think of a particular show, please go to my anime list and see for yourself. I have like a mini review of everything I've watched in my tags. Comments, friend requests and messages are always open.
Preferences
My favorite genres are: Psychological/SciFi/Mystery/Drama. I have a soft spot for somber and mellow shows with ambiguous endings leaving room for interpretation. I also don't mind Shounen or action driven shows as long as the story is compelling and/or the animation is really good (best example: Attack on Titan). At some point I also learned to appreciate Slice of Life / Iyashikei as well as the occasional romance. All things considered I think I'm pretty versatile.
Characters, plot lines and themes that are challenging, thought-provoking, even upsetting at times instead of "playing it safe" are a blessing in this industry. Not the biggest fan of fan service / pandering- I have gripes with most Isekai and BL anime for that very reason.
I will choose a subbed anime with the original voice track over a dubbed version any day. The only exceptions I'd see myself making are dubs known for being funny or when I'm so starved for new content I end up rewatching with a dub (Jujutsu Kaisen lol).
Ratings
As time goes on I readjust my ratings once in a while. The reason for this is might be simply because my opinion on certain aspects changed, but also because the more I watch, the clearer my understanding of what makes a show good -in general and for me personally- becomes.
Even if shows share the same score on my list (for example a 6) I don't always consider them being on the same level (a "high" 6 or a "low" 6 so to speak). In my opinion MAL should have a more finely graded rating system with 20 steps instead of 10.
Completionism
Because I'm a fanatic completionist I'm very reluctant on picking up anything more than 40 episodes max. You'd need to do a whole lot of convincing to make me take on a show that's significantly longer. Talking seasons, that is. I did manage to reconcile with the idea that I'd only need to finish the first season of a franchise in case the anime bores or annoys me.
And don't tell anyone, but I did remove all series I dropped after test-watching the first one or two episodes. Life as a perfectionist is hard you know. (⊙_⊙;) On the other hand, anything shorter than 20 min in total as well as music videos and promotional material will not be added to my list to prevent cluttering. I sometimes stray from that rule to include specials affiliated with an anime I've already watched.
<<That's all folks! Thanks for visiting!>>
