It's part of something I was talking about with someone in vc the other day; I think stories shouldn't just be "functional", and work on a technical level (though I have issues with Love Me for Who I am even on that front), a good story is something that rises above and beyond to give you more than just that.
Im not really annoyed im just curious as to where the stance that is pretentious and says nothing of value comes from. If you don't feel like reading the series again thats fine thats up to you and if your willing to have conversation regardless of when you read the series thats fine with me. No thats not what makes you self centered , whats makes you a bit self centered is that you are criticizing a stranger for posting a comment of disagreement but you are willing to comment and share your agreement with a stranger which is an example of confirmation biase which is a self centered act. And yes a person should explain their reasoning for liking or disliking something only then is the opinion valid , based on how good its foundation is. I'll admit my second comment was a confrontational and acknowledged that in the following comment and it was because you made all these claims with providing zero in depth reasoning to back it up hence my frustration but that was still silly of me to express in that way. And yeah i can be self centered i never claimed i wasnt.
And this paragraph summarizes my problem with your method of arguing so far, you make statements without any in depth reasoning you read alot of positive reviews and you disagreed with all of them, the uncles backstory was laughable no reasoning why.
I didn't say I didn't want a debate i said it would be better if you finished it recently so that it would be fresh in your mind but you claim you finished it recently so im perfectly willing to go. Well its really not obvious as you responding to my post so its confusing when someone says they are willing to engage but then respond with a wall of comment. No i would you claim you are being emotional based on your statements which so far they have been as you have made clear and alot of statements simply enunciate that dislike and no logical reasoning behind it. So if you are willing to stop that and explain with logic rather than emotions than i would understand and not call you emotional. Yes i am interested in hearing your thoughts thats why i keep responding and i would disagree or prove them wrong based on the argument, hearing someone's thoughts doesn't mean i dont challenge the fact that i am challenging means that i am hearing them more than simply allowing to say what you want with an attitude of "thats just your opinion man". If you want to validate your opinion to me then yes you have an obligation to explain if you are not interested or not willing to then you dont need to. Well i actually apologized for how i made one of my statements so i don't know what else you expect.
Then you have to explain where i misunderstood the tone of your message cause no it isnt clear still. You cant tell me not to respond thats not how it works if you are unwilling to partake in a discussion then you shouldn't respond or incite further arguments thats the equivalent of talking to someone and telling them to talk to the hand. Then dont reply if you are unwilling dont send a message saying that you are unwilling to reply.
Yeah i disagreed with you but the first comment wasnt a rant ,it was an enquiry to which you responded with vague reasoning and buzzwords without pointing to anything specific to establish the foundation for your reasoning which admittedly is what i did in response to that so that makes a rant from both sides, equivalent exchange and the comment my quoted by you was an attempt to remedy that.
Well my take isnt predicated on feelings its based on the observable text and subtext present in punpun which stays the same regardless of whose feelings are considered. Granted, I like Punpun but my arguments wont be based on my emotional responses to it.
Well i mean you sounds kinda self centered to say you dont care if a stranger disagrees with your take but your willing to comment to a stranger that you agreed with him, i.e., you make it seem like your only willing to discuss things with people that agree with you and you dont care about the alternative. Me, it really makes no difference to me whether your a stranger or not or if you disagree or agree,( preferably disagree cause than that allows me to evaluate and challenge my take) and i dont see why it should. And also you cared enough to respond to all my comments, so saying you dont care if a stranger thinks your wrong sounds counter intuitive unless its to simply let them know you dont care which is kinda petty ,you should have just not responded in the first place if your unwilling to discuss.
Maybe if you wanna revisit the series and refresh your take on it we could revisit this conversation cause some of the things you say make absolutely no sense such as it being edgy or gratuitous while it may be gratuitous i don't see why thats a negative in the slightest and its like of psychological exploration which it had alot of , it may not spoon fed the audience but it lets its imagery and symbolism do the talking.
But untill then, i don't see a productive discussion happening so you are right there is no point.
To call it pseudo philosophical is a disservice to its exploration of existentialism, depression, egotism that come with the story.
Just because its boring doesn't make it psuedo philosophical or pretentious thats a bad argument, the fact that characters are insufferable is good thing, thats the effort and talent takes to make well realized and layered cause you arguably the more you get to know a person, the more flawed they become.
They are definitely not better written punpun. The Mc for both those series are not more interesting than the MC of punpun and the psychological of exploration of both those is questionable. Kaiji is pretty good but monster is blatantly ridiculous and at some points contradictory and contrived.
Johan liebert is a complete deception of the human condition and is completely unrealistic individual that you would be impossible to exist on real life and series tries incredibly hard to create a omniscient threat out of him while resorting to contrivences and contradictions. If anything the dark elements of monster are more edgy cause of how forced some of them were. With punpun those elements made sense and were comparatively more subtle unlike kaiji which slams over the head with what its saying.
With punpun everything that happens in that story is understandable provided you look at it through the lens of magical realism which is what it is by nature.
Yeah I also watch almost everything, though I haven't seen any sports anime yet.. Madoka Rebellion is awesome!! It made me cry at some parts.
+Where you into Love Live School Idol Project? That anime's pretty populair and I've played the game for a while.:o
Any other anime you like?
I just finished ERASED and I'm absolutely in love with it.
Yeah, I'm also a Takano Miyo fan and noticed how she doesn't have a lot of clubs so I decided to make one.
