On 11Apr04, we got ambushed on our way to BIAP traveling north on ASR Jackson. 110 truck convoy. We pulled into ST Mikes, just south of the mixing bowl to get our wounded and trucks patched up. I end up talking to a Marine (St Mikes is a Marine camp) and ask the usual, where, when, who yada yada yada. Ends up, we went to St Ed's, me '84, him '96. Crappy place for a reunion. He asks me to call his folks for him, which I do, cause the phones have been blown up, the mailman was blown up, the honey dipper was blown up and so was the laundry dude. Talk about good times and small world. That whole tour was nothing but a mini reunion for me. I ran into troops that I had been stationed with all over the place, but that meeting at St Mikes was the best.

Haven't had too much exposure to your dry sense of humor but am looking forward to it. Thought of you as a Midwest to Northwest transplant and thought you'd get a grin out of it.

Bay Village. So you were a west sider as am I. Grew up in Lakewood and now live in Old Brooklyn section of Cleveland. We did a stint in Buffalo and at Fort Dix. My wife was active Coast Guard and I, a weekend warrior in the Ohio Guard (SVC Btry 1/134 FA BN and 1486th Trans Co (I had to xfer to a REMF unit to go to combat)). We retired on the same day.
Thanks for the congrats

And Popeye was in the Coast Guard. Where in Cle did you live? And with last years mild winter, we are bracing for a rough winter this year. This is the only place I know where you are traveling on a detour because of construction and you must take a detour on the detour because of road construction on the original detour.
Yes I am as today is our wedding anniversary, 22 years.

What's a Tully's? A Chinook is an Army helicopter, aka Shithook. A Sockeye is what Popeye gave Bluto. And yes I can drive 75 in a raging blizzard, w/ a raging wife next to me (I'm from Cleveland). Even tho I don't live in your fine state, the list made me laugh, none the less. Have a great day

Was e-mailed this by a fellow Washingtonian and immediately thought of you.

Thank you for the information. I've been out of school for a few years, but I have considered going back once I settle on a good enough program that would be applicable to a number of fields. (I used to be a filmmaking student and sort of flopped my final semester there, so I never got the degree and ended up simply taking off a lot of time. orz.) While working at a mint hasn't been a position I've had my eye on like you have, it's one that would appeal if I had the right opportunities. Before I finally commit to something, I wanted to look at what's out there and see which paths would both benefit and interest me. Again, thank you for the info!

Do you happen to know what kind of educational background one needs for that job, out of curiosity?
Numi Jul 17, 2012 10:54 PM

My dream job in life is to be the Penny Press Operator at the US Mint; Just so I can come home everyday to my significant other and say "Honey, I made cents ALL day long!"

Best job idea ever! I fully support this as a coin enthusiast.

Great! Unfortunately, due to the vagaries of MAL, in order to get you in, you have to click on the "Request to Join This Club" link under the cherry tree picture. Stupid, huh?!? Even though I invited you, both on your profile and through the club, you still have to ask permission to join. As time goes by, you too will learn to curse the owners of this, for the most part, wonderful, but glitchy, site.

As to Yamato, I no longer even try....

lisnoire did her recruiting bit for the Vet Club so now I'm doing Chelle's job by inviting you to check out the other ole fart hang-out, MAL: The Later Years (aka MAL:TLY). You don't have to be crazy to join the club (but it couldn't hurt), even though there are a few of us who are a few bricks shy of a BBQ pit.

Noticed we are practically neighbors.

You're in. Come on in and get acquainted. We'll treat you so many different ways you are bound to like some of 'em.

Take a look and see if you'd care to hang out with a bunch of old farts. Well, not all of us are but our more active (i.e. vocal) members are.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
