And yeah, I like Platinum and BW (B2W2 in particular) the most, with HGSS coming in second. Gens 4 and 5 are my favorite gens by a long shot (Can you guess that I grew up in the DS era lol?)
Here's a tier-list I made for fun:
The sound design for S2 in general has been a far cry from S1's and it's a shame that the once genuinely good score this anime had has seemingly been scrapped. The most egregious example of poor music this season was when Gojo activated his Domain Expansion in the metro station and jazz started playing while he was slaying a hundred curses in 0.2 seconds lmao (not helped by the drowsy narrator in the midst of it all).
Now imagine if instead of those flavorless and forgettable S2 soundtracks, the anime used this one from S1 for that moment and how much more impactful it would've felt (even the name of the OST indicates a perfect match): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OBcBGUeUVQ
I've heard the iconic Ready Steady Go and Resonance already; the former is my second favorite song from the FMA adaptations. PRIDE by High and Mighty Color is one I'm gonna keep going back to now, thanks bro.
Here are two more bangers. I love the first because it's the literal embodiment of the 2000s and anyone will recognize what anime it's from, whilst the second is Japan incarnate:
I look forward to P6 whenever Atlus releases that; it's clearly going to be their most ambitious title yet. Since we've covered the primary colors with 3, 4 & 5, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that 6's signature palette is going to be black & white, but I wouldn't mind purple, and green wouldn't surprise me either (but which I hope it's not).
Btw you're a Pokemon fan, aren't you?
What are your favorite soundtracks? Some of mine:
Yep, the percentages just mean how much in common your ratings are with mine.
Bleach being referenced in court is wild. The Bount filler arc in particular being referenced in court is even wilder. I'm not even that surprised, though. It's one of the most valuable and influential animanga IPs and its 'soft power' is arguably greater than its commercial one. I know Bleach's OST played in some of the Olympics.
Happy to help, friend. Enjoy peak manga. Binging it is honestly a beautiful experience, not least owing to Kubo's cinematic page composition and pacing. And not sure if I ever mentioned this, but great lists + based Persona enjoyer. 80%+ affinity lol.
Those Read or Die tunes are kino. I vibe with the smooth jazz and ambience. And the anime seems up my alley, so into my PTW it goes.
Bleach in particular is one of those series you appreciate more as you mature due to its subtle, "show, don't tell" sophistication in presentation, as you realize just how layered it actually is. The amount of subtext it has is immense. All helped by the YouTube Bleach scholars and those with high media literacy analyzing its narrative, characters and lore to give audiences (especially Westerners) a deeper understanding and appreciation for the series and attract new readers while changing the minds of some who fell for the debunked anti-Bleach propaganda of the early 2010s. It's satisfying seeing the pendulum regarding the reception for this series swing the other way against those vocal yet dying minority of detractors. Fans of the series are feasting with this new anime and future projects from Kubo for his franchise. And you know it's a good time to be a Bleach fan when you see all the hype bandwagonners doing a 180 on the series and pretending like they never slandered it LOL.
Factualpilled and Kubopilled for saying Bleach has the best storyline of the three. Actually, a lot of the serious arcs in Gintama like Shogun Assassination remind me of early Bleach and perhaps why you enjoyed it most. Bleach has the best foreshadowing of the bunch and when it comes to thematic storytelling, it is undoubtedly superior by a long mile. Its abstract and timeless themes of death, identity, self-affirmation etc are far more meaningful than the earthly and overdone likes of "muh cycle of hatred" (Naruto), "discrimination is le bad" (One Piece) and whatnot. While the themes that they share such as loyalty and the importance of bonds Bleach does better as well. I've always appreciated its darker/more mature, ethereal flavor and pensive character-driven narrative. Even as a kid I could never get into Naruto or One Piece due to their standard shonen setting, premise, tone and themes and found the former too melodramatic while the other childish (but I can still see their appeal and they have their own strengths; I wouldn't call them irredeemable garbage with no soul like I would World Trigger or Seven Deadly Sins for instance). In terms of that ethereal, pensive overtone I was talking about, the only other shonen I've really seen it in are FMA and D Gray-man. But I very much love the fact that many of the most beloved shonen of today such as the "Dark Trio" have taken the "essence" of Bleach in some shape or form.
The LNs and manga are indeed different, but they are still one united story. They take place at the same time with the same overarching narrative and characters, but because you're reading the perspective of two separate MCs, you're seeing their own individual events unfold that ultimately intertwine with each other and still pertain to the greater world and story. Misaka is a secondary character in Index but the MC in Railgun and vice-versa for Touma.
New Testament is the sequel to Old Testament, and the sequel to NT is Genesis Testament.
