Latest Review (Ouran High School Host Club)

Personal Message:

Greetings! Whatever kind of morbid curiosity led you to see who this user was (or who to send angry PM's at), I am just an aspiring animator (2D and 3D) and I also program stuff (more like flail at the screen and hope stuff compiles and runs).

I may have only started watching anime during my high school years, but I am very passionate about the medium and like critiquing anime/manga, seeing what works and what doesn't in hopes to aspire better art to be created (that includes me too).

I also have a fascination with characters. As you can tell, I tend to watch emotionally heavy/taxing anime. This is more of a happenstance that spawned from watching incredibly depressing anime like Clannad/Clannad After Story, Grave of the Fireflies, Little Busters, Your Lie in April, Anohana.... the list goes on. Regardless, these particular shows inspired me greatly and even changed who I was in certain cases.

Anyway... I hope you enjoy my commentary and critique (I mean no offense if I don't like something you like or vice versa. I understand how it feels to get very attached to certain characters or shows and how having someone rip apart your favorite anime can get hard to see/read.)

For sure, Parasyte is definitely worth the watch whenever you do get around to it. Did you ever finish Boku No Hero? I just watched the first episode of s2 yesterday actually since Funimation is doing a simuldub.

Yeah Christopher Sabat is great, they cast him perfectly as Major Armstrong & All Might! I usually watch Action, Supernatural/Magic, & Fantasy but I have tried to expand my library as time goes on. That makes sense though, I bet Moe works best with subs since the Japanese invented it lol

Same here, I had seen a few anime when I was younger but they were all targeted towards children so I consider my first introduction to mature anime to be Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood which I watched dubbed. I was pretty much hooked from there and while I do watch some subs, the vast majority is dubbed. I'm currently waiting for them to finish the final episode of Hero Academia so that I can watch the last 3 episodes in one viewing.

Indeed. The DanMachi anime basically took all of the worst aspects of SAO and made it another show, which I found to be worse. High reviews were negative ones, but because it never reached that popularity it was swept under the rug. Same for other Light Novel anime that put even less effort to tell a good story. It's not a great series, I've seen several better, but it's one that I think has a lot of good to great moments that people brush under the rug because it's cool to hate on something popular apparently

I like that you're honestly being fair to Sword Art Online. A lot of people tend to call the show the worst anime ever for really petty reasons, and while the shows are undeniably flawed, they have good elements and I look forward to the future from the franchise, like the upcoming movie. I wrote a review if you want to see.

Anytime! I always like perusing the reviews section for some unique or quality writing. As a reviewer myself, I can understand the necessity for a shorter synapses of a review. Sometimes it's also hard to make yours stand out amongst the sea of shit that's out there hahaha.

Good review of SAO season 2, talking about the final arc made me want to go watch it despite not liking the first season. Also, your description of programming stuff really made me laugh because of how true it is.
