Hello, nice to meet you, I also see that you have a very good taste.
Sorry for my English xD.
Some of my recommendations are as follows: Tenshi no Tamago; Sweat punch; Sidonia no Kishi; Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou; Inaka Isha; Nekojiru-sou; Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence; Kaiba; Kemonozume; Steamboy; Hadashi no Gen.
I think I watched Hell Girl around that same time as well. Might give Death Parade a try.
Great Pretender was fantastic, completely fell in love with it, it oddly reminded me of Black Lagoon (kinda sucks that the manga has been on and off hiatus almost as bad as Hunter X Hunter but probably not as bad as NANA).
I have seen Steins;Gate but not Steins;Gate 0 yet, I do intend to watch it at some point. As for Made in Abyss, I know one of the big plot twists about the series but I haven't actually watched it yet. It kind of came on to my radar after finding out Kevin Penkin did the music for Tower of God and Made in Abyss.
When I was younger (say 15 to 20 years ago), I use to rewatch Love Hina and Bleach but I don't really do it that often, I think I might have rewatched Code Geass and Death Note once (I think) since those times.
When I took my break from anime which was about 6 to 8 years ago, I would go through a cycle of watching random American TV shows, Netflix series, etc and then watch Korean or Japanese live-action dramas ((there are some fantastic ones out there)) and it would alternate between the two usually whilst gaming a lot. During most of the "break" time, I was always wondering what anime to watch but never actually going through with it.
Claymore was so damn good but then they ruined it when it started deviating away from the manga, I was reading the manga before the anime aired so the deviation which was late on in the show kinda put me off the show and never went back to it but now I'm thinking I might actually rewatch it from the start since it's been so long.
I know of Texhnolyze (and Gilgamesh), I just remember the anime section at HMV 15/16 years ago had DVD volumes of it but I haven't watched it either. I wonder if it was ever released on Blu-Ray.
If I remember correctly, there was a time when anime was just really bad and it was dubbed as the "Moe-Blob Era" as almost every anime being released was a "moe" anime, it was bloody awful.
It is definitely hard to find a decent anime but lately I've been lucking out and have watched quite a few good ones lately. Right now, I'm watching Kono Oto Tomare and just after watching the first 2 episodes, I know I will like this.
I saw your comment regarding The Great Pretender, I might be watching it tonight, I'm still little unsure whether to watch on Netflix or find a torrent for it.
You mentioned Vinland Saga, which was a brilliant watch, and Death Parade. I've heard the hype for Death Parade, never watched it though, it also came out when I was taking a huge long-ass break from anime. Is it like Jigoku Shoujo? Jigoku Shoujo is kind of a messed up show btw. How was Death Parade?
>You don't find picking apart what you find pleasure in watching takes away from it afterwards...?
It became a problem that had negative influence on my enjoyment somewhere during 2013-2014 which lead to me removing my ratings. I stay above it as long as judgement is given with words and not with ratings that are limited to 10 numbers -- which is frankly the same as judging every anime with 10 words. I also appreciate different perspectives and opinions more than agreement and don't believe that only one "right" answer exist.
I actually enjoy most of these things people conclude that I "hate". What I really do is acknowledge that they are bad. I guess many people couldn't live like this, but I can't live without.

Thanks and a hug.
